Soccer, still winning the crazy fandom award

Referee beheaded after killing player in Brazil - ESPN FC

To think we complain about shady and terrible refs in the sports we watch. Yeah, at least they don't go stabbing players. This of course is merely the warm up to fans going out and beheading the ref, putting his head on a stake, and then planting it in the middle of the field.

Yeah you know if a crazy umpire stabbed Yadier Molina or Allen Craig I'm not sure I'd be cool with murdering him, beheading him, and placing his head in center field. I think Brazil is gradually seeing it's world cup and Olympic futures slip away.

I can see maybe if a ref has a problem with a player in the heat of the moment, he stabs him. OK, not good, but people get mad and a little stabby sometimes. But how do you spend your afternoon watching an amateur soccer game, one minute, you're just taking in the game, and then the next minute, your're decapitating a guy?

Not just decapitating, they cut of his arms and legs. The autopsy video is interesting. And I think the first reports said they put his head on a spike at midfield. Since when are there spikes at midfield?

I think maybe at rural Brazilian soccer games the fans bring their own spikes, just in case.

Maybe he was just referring to cell phone camera footage taken by the fans. I mean, they conducted an autopsy, of sorts.

I could totally picture this too, even jostling each other for a better angle. People have gone insane.

Yikes! Don't worry. Footage isn't contained in this story, but does have a link to it.

Welp, I've reached the point in my life where I can watch a video of doctors autopsying a dismembered man and the main thing I take away from it is that the nurses are hot.

I still don't understand how fans were allowed to interact with the ref for that long of a period of time. The article mentions they didn't start stoning him until the reports of the player being dead came back. So they went after him, tied him down, tortured him, and then only started to stone him after the reports came back and finally killed him.

There's a reason officials normally run out of the stadium after the game. Evidently, this 20 year old hadn't figured that out quite yet.

It was an amateur match in a small poor village, I doubt there was any stadium to run out of. The ref was a 19 or 20 year old with no training who was either carrying a knife or went home to get a knife before coming back and stabbing the player.

I was joking. With that said, if he's carrying a knife to a soccer match he's officiating, I'm guessing that this isn't the first time that things might have gotten out of hand.
