ESPN Best Ball Majors Contest

I've set up a league for this game as well...

ESPN Best Ball Majors Contest

This is a pretty cool game, where you pick 4 golfers that fit under the salary cap. Then the 4 golfers combine to give you a best ball score over the 4 rounds. Low total wins.

I created an FOFC Private Group, password is trout.

Bump for Master's Week. If anyone wants to play, please get signed up.

I'll try to remember to do another bump on Wednesday (but I'll actually be in Augusta that morning for the practice round)...

Sounds like a cool idea. Though, I thought this was going to be about suggesting the best bullshit major for scholarship athletes...

I was looking golden until Dustin Johnson and Jim Furyk double bogeyed the 15th-but at least still have all four players left.

I made the mistake of including Y.E. Yang in my team this week. Like an idiot. Otherwise, I'd be doing a lot better.

Seriously. I've got all three of my guys in the Top 10. I just don't have a 4th guy because he missed the cut.

Middle of the pack after being in 1st or 2nd most of the way does not exactly enthuse me. Congrats to Dwardzara and the Klein Bottles for their first place tie.

Liked what I saw of Mickelson this past week, hope he can carry into this week. Had to leave off my fav Dustin Johnson this week-he's had injury after injury this year, not confident he's fully recovered. Watch him win now. Picked Kuchar as a solid second, rest could be shaky Jason Day and Matteo Manassero.

So of course Dustin Johnson off to a good start at -1 through 7 before the rains came. Looks like they are trying to get the players out soon for a small window of clear weather-the rest of the afternoon looks pretty unfriendly though. I see Nicholas Colsearts is also off to a good start at -2. He was on my team for a long time till I saw he missed his last two cuts.

Read where someone picked Colsearts as a good dark horse pick, because he's the best long iron player on tour and he thought the long par 3s might play into his strength...didn't pick him though...

Didn't realize you had to reset your picks, I was happy with my Masters group. Bummer.

Just a reminder (to myself as well) that the British Open is this week and everyone will need to set their teams again. Should I give Mickelson a chance here after winning on a links course this past week? Dustin Johnson goes back on my team with Matt Kuchar going on-which European golfers look good here you think?

Last reminder-the first round starts early tomorrow.

I went with Mickelson, Dustin Johnson, Brendan Grace and Vijay Singh. Singh was kind of a throwaway as it allowed me to get Grace to spend $50 exactly. Mickelson won last week of course and he did well in the US Open after finishing second the week before. He beat Grace last week so he's playing well too. The British Open appears to be Dustin Johnson's best chance to win a major much to my surprise-has finished in Top 15 the last 3 years. I think Singh will have his best finish in a major this year at the British. Finished 9th last year.

I will probably regret not taking a British player since this seems to be the year for British champions with Justin Rose and Andy Murray winning.

Who did you take?

Bump for the PGA this week. No idea who I'm picking this week so far other than Henrik Stenson who seems to be playing well of late.

Congrats to...me! Hope we are able to do this next year when hopefully one of us will remember that our picks do NOT carry through to the next tournament. Kinda sucked the life out of it when that happened.

Congrats Thomkal - You pulled it out in the end after I led most of the season but threw up on myself in the PGA.

Its seems I would have been much better off if Lefty had failed to make the cut (my other three slammed their trunks on Friday) and I had a score of 0 on the weekend instead of the +10 I put up.

Oh well. Looking forward to next year.

Yeah, I really liked the idea behind this game, just got thrown by the format of re-picking for each major. And forgetting that The Open Championship is played in the UK, so the rosters would lock way sooner than I thought they would.
