Ever wondered where a stream or river ran?
This site show you where a creek or river flows, either upstream to the source or downstream to the termination. It can also show all of the related waterways that feed in.

This is the kind of stuff I do at work. I did one app for the water control section to pinpoint a hypothetical sewage overflow entering a stream and how long it would take to flow downstream through the gauges. That way, they will know how much time they have to activate the retention dam.

I've been to the start of the Mississippi up in Minnesota. Literally can just step across the river.

I have not been there. Is the start of the Mississippi flowing to the right out of the lake?

Yeah- it's at Lake Itasca State Park in Minnesota. The little river just meanders through the park for a bit and, while I don't think you could jump over it in a single bound, it's not that wide. SI

Which is unlike the start of the mighty rivers here in Colorado. Most of them start as a snowmelt trickle. One could easily jump over the Arkansas, Colorado and Rio Grande. |

The Mississippi's mighty, but it starts in Minnesota At a place where you can walk across with five steps down And I guess that's how you started like a pinprick to my heart But at this point you rush right through me and I start to drown |

Thanks. This is great. We discuss river systems in class so I can use this to show how local creeks make it to the Gulf. |
