Going To London in September - Any Advice on Seeing a Football Match?
My wife and I are going to London and Amsterdam in September for our Anniversary. While in London, I would like to see a football (soccer) match but don't know how we should go about buying tickets. I'm thinking of either seeing Chelsea or Arsenal.
Does anyone have any advice on how to go about this? Much appreciated?

They are like StubHub in the US. One of my friends is a huge Chelsea fan, and this is where he got tickets for the final home game this past season.

Steer clear of referencing football as soccer, around some of the Chelsea or Arsenal supporters. |

See a lower league game as well would be my recommendation. Far different experience from one of the big clubs. I can recommend Orient (my second team) and Brentford as pretty interesting places to go. Just stay away from Millwall whatever you do.

Thanks for the advice everyone!
I realize it's football everywhere else except in the U.S. ;-)

Word of advice: know the team colors of each team playing and choose your wardrobe very carefully.

In 2013, two NFL International Series games will be staged at Wembley Stadium. The first takes place on Sunday 29th September, when the Minnesota Vikings will host the Pittsburgh Steelers and then on Sunday 27th October, the Jacksonville Jaguars will play the first of four games in London between 2013 and 2016, when they take on the San Francisco 49ers.

My wifes family are from England they brought me to a Preston North enders game a few years back when they where in the championship division. The atmosphere for a reg season game was like nothing I saw around here (Boston). They made me a football fan for life and a preston north ender fan.

UPDATE: We woke up at 1:00am PST and purchased tickets to the Sept. 21st West Ham United game.
We had Arsenal tickets all lined up for Sept. 21st, but then the Match was switched to Sept. 22nd, which conflicts with our travel plans. At this point, I'm just happy to be attending an EPL Match and believe I'm in for the experience of our lives!!

Good choice. Rest assured that some percentage of the money you spent on the tickets will go towards WHU investing in new players.

My favorite game experience was attending an Arsenal game a few years back at their old field.
The way they watch games is just...... different. In a wonderful way.

tottenham is also in london...might be easier to figure out where to get to a match once you know what part of the city you are staying in.
