It means that likely there aren't many points separating 2nd/3rd place with 6th place.

I believe they base it on a threshold of votes received, so 6 guys this year met that points minimum.

So you're saying they should have invited one finalist.

They will try to stretch out the drama, but I have a feeling this is going to be one of the most lopsided votes ever.

No way. At 8-4 Western Kentucky gets screwed if they don't get a spot. What kind of moron leave them out but puts in a 6-6 Mississippi State team?

Coastal Carolina's football program is on the main ESPN channel for the first time ever today at noon EST. Very tough task to beat North Dakota State at home, but I didn't think CCU's chances against Montana were very good last week. Worried though about how all the travel is going to affect them.

Just like with the NCAA Tournament, that's a media fabrication so they have something to talk about. I don't CARE what happens in those bottoms seeds, as long as the conference champion is in. Don't win your conference, you have NOTHING to complain about. Heck, I still can't believe the NCAA went with that farce of 68 teams - I don't CARE if the fifth-best top-conference team is in vs the third-best second-rate conference team gets in.

Get the conference champions in, and shut up about everyone else.

Coastal dodges a bullet-looked like they could have fumbled the opening kickoff, but officials ruled it down and did not overturn it on review.

I guess I should have put a smiley on my post.

Unfortunately there hasn't been anything real positive to report about the game...unless you are a North Dakota State fan.

Yes, yes I am.....thanks. Sorry bro.

I was working all day today, but got caught up when I got to DC today. I was worried about coming out flat, but this team is just playing cant miss ball right now. It's pretty damn exciting.

I've never seen them play since they restarted the football program after I left, but my alma mater, Southeastern Louisiana University, plays in the FCS quarterfinals tonight. I don't know what to expect, but I am going to try to check them out if I can find a working stream.

FWIW, I grew up on LSU sports. Even though I never attended the university, I had a strong bond to them from watching eventual NFL players like Tommy Hodson, Wendell Davis, Dalton Hilliard, and Eric Hill when I was younger, to seeing Shaquille O'Neal, Stanley Roberts, and Chris (Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf) Jackson live, to seeing Skip Bertman's boys take charge in the College World Series. I've been hooked on them for my entire collegiate fanhood. Sadly, the two universities where I attended--Southeastern for grad school and Nicholls State for undergrad--never had much of my support.

Anyway, I'm rooting for the Lions tonight against New Hampshire. Can't find a working stream anywhere, though, so I guess I won't be watching. I see it's 14-7 NHU in the 2nd quarter.

I'm watching it on ESPN 3 right now.
