I need a multi-poll, as I use a multi-blade after lazy weekends (which is all of them) during which I don't shave, and use a rotating electric during the week for convenience.

Double blade and I'll never go back. Much less irritation on my skin, especially on my neck, and I enjoy shaving now. Give it a try if you've never done so before. It's much cheaper, too.

I will say this much, a straight razor shave has been the best shave I have ever experienced.

I'm a multi-blader but I also only shave every couple of days.
I used to use the Mach 3 and they were great when they came out but I eventually moved over to the Schick Hydro because their shape is better for me as it fits my face better. Odd thing, tho: it's the Hydro 3 or 5 but the Quattro 4 don't fit me at all. SI

I didn't realize sitting in a puddle of your own urine makes for a great shave experience. I'm almost certain that would be my reaction of a stranger wielding a super sharp instrument in the vicinity of my carotid arteries.

yeah, the hydro is pretty awesome, but the quattro is a pile of shit. I bought a 5 pack of quattro's around christmas thinking that it would last for a long time, and they are totally junk. Tossing them about every week, thank god I'm on the last one. I shave about every 3-4 days. |

I buzz down every 3 days or so. Got tired of all the irritation, especially on my neck. I've shaved with a blade once over the past year, on my wedding day, and that was only because I didn't want to look back at pictures 20 years from now and regret not shaving. My wife was all in on me being scruffy.

I used to be a Mach 3 guy, but then thanks to an attempt to support Lathum's lady's company I switched to the Schick Hydro, and I like it better. Whether it's a better fit for my face or what I dunno, but i find the lotion on it lasts longer and the blades don't dull as fast.
Any thoughts on Dollar Shave Club?

Don't ever get those shitty Pace blades... (which from my understanding is the company that makes the Dollar Shave Club blades...)

I thought their 6 blade razor was pretty solid, i think they were $9. I'd give that shave butter a big F-, it seemed like it would be good but all it did was gunk up my razor. It's super easy to cancel and you get 4 razors for $9. these are the blades if you don't want to subscribe- http://www.dorcousa.com/razors-men/ They are Pace brand like Dan said. I shave just over one time a week on average and go through about three razors a yyear and have never used shaving cream. I am 31 & just cannot grow facial hair. I see 14 year olds w more facial hair after one day than me after a week.
My wife says I'm lucky.. I dunno.. just once I'd like to see what I'd look like with a goatee or a stache. |

Got a gift card for DollarShaveClub for X-Mas... first package hasn't arrived yet - got an email saying it got returned so I'm still waiting to try it out. I use the shit out of a blade before I toss it so I'm assuming $100 for the DSC package is going to last me a couple of years.

LMAO - I thought they did? I got confused. But I like the Schick. The gel-strips on the Mach 3 run out wayyyy too fast.

Despite my wife managing a large part of the Gilette business for her company in a prior role, I actually slack a lot on shaving. My company is very casual and doesn't care. I use an electric razor and shave a couple times a week. Sometimes I let it go a few weeks, then shave with a Fusion or MAch 3, whichever my wife gets me. I haven't purchased a razor or blade in close to 8 years.

How do these 3rd party razors work? When I go to look at them they don't seem to list compatibility or ask me to select my razor type. Are all blades universally compatible with handles?

Also, my girlfriend got me a fancy kit from The Art of Shaving. It's very nice, but includes a bone handle Mach3 razor. So can't really trade for a new one, just the blades.

Ihave no idea how dollar club works, but not all blades are compatible with all handles, quite the opposite in fact. |

Yeah, that's what I assumed. Which sparked my question, I'm assuming dollar shaving club and another generics require a new handle? Or I'm just missing where they list compatibility. Last edited by jeff061 : 01-22-2014 at 10:15 AM. |

I just started double edged shaving. Got an old Gilette razor for $30 on ebay, bought 100 blades for $10 and I'm good to go. I don't think I've necessarily mastered it yet, but I'm not cutting myself or anything. I think I need to get some better shaving cream/soap for a better shave. It definitely requires a bit more thought than cartridge razors, that's for sure, but I'd recommend it for the price alone.

confession: I've never shaved with anything other than an electric razor. As in never, ever have I used a straight or safety razor.

Same here. Not sure I would trust myself with one anyway - but I honestly don't shave too often. I have a "full" beard and shave the neckbeard on occasion - but I just plain don't put that much effort into it. Note: I say "full" because I have a few spots that won't grow all that nice and only look decent when other spots grow over it. Would be nice to grow it a little cleaner, but whaddya gonna do?

Mach 3....in the shower with no gel or cream daily....
Before I stopped shaving wih shaving cream a razor lasted me 2-3 days now I routinely get a month plus out of a blade. BTW Dollar shave club gives you a free handle, and their handles are specific to the blades. So upgrade and gte a new handle then down grade the next month another new handle etc. at least that was my experience YMMV |
