Lache Seastrunk is going to skip his last season at Baylor and go pro. It will be interesting to see where he goes in the draft. He's 22, but only played two season in college. He redshirted at Oregon, then transferred to Baylor. He should have quite a bit of tread left.

You know, I was watching the replay of the last play from the BCS championship game and as the Aurburn player is taking the ball up the sidelines there are just loads of people close to and on the field (making it look like there was less room to run there) on the FSU sideline. It's not apples to apples, but considering the stakes and the issue in the NFL, you would have thought that maybe there might have been some fuss made over it.

I'm not trying to make a point or anything, just a random thought that passed as I was watching it.

Auburn Came This Close To Springing The Final Play For A Winning TD

Kelvin Benjamin appears to tell Jimbo Fisher Auburn coach Dameyune Craig was calling out FSU's plays - Tomahawk Nation

Interesting...

At least Fisher owned up to not changing up their signals enough.

Gotta say I disagree with the commenters who think that's cheating or against the spirit of the game on Craig's part. Someone spying on practice or Belichick filming the other team? Sure. Your ex-OC and QB coach being able to pick up your signals because you haven't changed them? Part of the game, and quite frankly embarrassing that you haven't changed them. I coach HS lacrosse where we can put in maybe 3-4 plays/sets total and most everything is signaled in vocally during play and it's known at our level that other coaches are trying to use that information. We always change it up or throw a wrinkle in vs. the other 4-5 really good teams we play every year - if Jimbo Fisher is using the same signals he used when Craig was on staff, Craig is absolutely in the right to use that to Auburn's advantage.

In the same vein, when Maryland was destroyed earlier this year by FSU, there was word that FSU knew whether Maryland was going to pass or run on each play due to a "tell" from the MD offensive line. Not exactly the same, but I can imagine with so much on the line, teams do this all the time.

But that's just good film study. The other thing is stealing signals, akin to tipping off pitch calls/location in baseball. It's borderline but I'll allow it. Watch it though, counselor.

It's amazing what you can tell about a play by watching one player...the offensive tackle. Being a line judge, that is my initial key on every play. Sometimes it is as simple as: weight on back foot, standing straight up = pass...leaning forward good chance it is a run.

Now if they are in a 3 point stance, you look to see how much pressure they have on their fingers. More pressure...the more chance it will be a run.

If the tight end is outside the tackle it gets a little more tricky because in a 3 point stance, they might add more pressure to their fingers, but that also could mean they want to fire out and get down field on their pass pattern.

Edit: A few years ago I was working spring practices for an unnamed university and I took aside the Offensive line coach and told him how I knew if they were going to run or pass before each play started. He stood by me while I correctly predicted that for the next 10 plays. I said "If a dumb official like me can figure it out, I'm sure some coach in the booth will pick up on it too."

Agreed.
In 2011 Clemson won the ACC and demolished VT twice in the process (their only regular season losses) due in no small part to this exact tell. The LG actually changed his foot stagger on pass plays versus runs...the brilliance of the trigger though was the then DC didn't want their team to pick up that they had their call down so the MLB would call out the play but never use the same terminology.

Since Kevin Steele is gone I don't think I'm hurting anyone by saying this part but if it was a run they called out a ground animals name (lion tiger bear alligator....turtle was even used once) if it was a pass a bird ...late in the fourth quarter the players were almost mocking it calling out tweety, Tom &jerry etc...the funniest thing was after the game they said late in the game someone yelled out foghorn leghorn and everyone laughed as the ball was snapped...then the joke started...well he is a bird but he can't fly. A former lb was called ostrich as a recurring joke for a few years because of this.

It's always a complete shock when you hear about a college kid who has weed.

His parents are well-respected people in the Springfield area. His dad is going to rip him a new one for several days in a row after this situation.

He was released without being charged and the other two people in the car both have already admitted that DGB wasn't involved in any way per Springfield Police and the family.

With that said, he's in the common position that so many college athletes have been of learning how to pick your friends. He was still in a car that smelled of weed and he knew what the other guys were doing. He's got to choose better or he's going to ruin a perfectly good career opportunity at the next level.

I bet if this had been a Kansas or Texas player, they would be the worst person in the world and clearly need to be kicked out of school, and the fact that he has not been would be a shame to not only the university but the entire state.

But since it's Mizzou, he's just a college kid that needs to pick his friends better. No big deal.

Not sure where this goes, but Devante Davis is coming back to UNLV for another season. If we wanted to have a prayer of any success next year, that totally needed to happen.

In all seriousness, those are horrible allegations. If it turns out that there was an effort by the administration to cover this up, it won't bode well at all for the university.

His "bleed Orange" tweet & half-assed apology ain't gonna help matters.

The next time he makes news down here will be when he gets fired ... and that'll be fun, 'cause we've got looooong memories

Of all the legit criticisms involving urban planning and school response, plus the good-natured ribbing that comes whenever the south is paralyzed by two inches of snow, why is Schafer's tweet the one the that stands out and crosses the line? Is it just because he coaches a bad football team? I guess that's the ultimate sin in the south?
