The reason why you have a C, 2 Gs and 2 Ts is that each one of those positions is so specialised within the current form of the game. No idea how those positions actually originated, but I'm sure someone here would know a ton more about the evolution of the positions we have in the modern game than I do.

I'm already working on the new sport. Seriously, these guys did all of the hard work already. All I gotta do is tweak it a bit and slap a name on it. lol...

If referees are unable to officiate a porion of the game they should either be:
A) Replaced with more competent individuals B) If the expectations are unrealistic (and in this caase they are) be given additional help (in the form of more people) to accomplish the task All that is not to say the A-11 should exist, just that the reason it is bammed should not be officials |

Easy to say. A. There are huge shortages of officials already. We beg people to join our board. We let second year officals do varsity games. We have days where every last healthy official has a varsity game. B. Funny. More officials = More Money. School already are pushing back on going to 6 from 5. We just got from 4 to 5 not that many years ago. It's more difficult to officiate the A-11. The last thing the game can do is give another reason to people not to officiate. |

You hit the nail on the head. I am 30 years old and the youngest official in my chapter by 14 years. No one wants to do the job...especially when you hear about parents coming out of the stands after officials. |

Okay-semi dead bump
I just encountered this today- Teams Basically they are forming a new professional spring league with a lot of USFL type tie-ins(specifically team naming) that will start this year in exhibition modes and they plan to have a full 14 game season next year. I guess being different than the NFL might work, but it's hard to see it being much more than a niche type thing that only lasts like a year. I thought at first it was just going to be some UFL type knock off but they do intend to operate under a11 rules. Last edited by stevew : 02-24-2014 at 08:56 AM. |
