Where and What Should I Eat!? (when I'm out of town)
Ok for those of you that don't know, I travel about 2-3 times a month for work. And we aren't talking normal towns all the time, we are talking random cities in random states for just a night or two.
I'm creating this thread for anyone else that travels or wants to get suggestions from other FOFCers about where they should eat. I know I'm not the only one that travels for a living and although I have Yelp and other ways of locating food I appreciate opinions of people I at least sort of know. Next week I'm traveling to Kalamazoo, MI and Goshen, IN (basically South Bend). I'll be at or near either city one night each. Does anyone have suggestions on cool things to eat? I'm particularly interested in regional food and regional type restaurants. I went to a Meat and 3 in Tennessee and loved it. Hopefully others can find use with this thread!

Interesting thread-
Cincinnati- Sotto- Great Italian food, awesome atmosphere. Easily my favorite spot. From what I hear there are also some really good spots in Over the Rhine. Seattle- Lived there 5 years and ate out a lot. - Purple wine bar- really great food and huge wine selection - Bizarro- small Italian place in Wallingford, great food - Wold Ginger- Upscale Thai- Fusion place - Pesos- Great Mexican in Queen Anne - Rays Boathouse- Seafood restaurant- if you go at the right time of year sit on the deck, amazing views and great food - Red Mill Burgers- great burger place- good for lunch I could list Seattle places all day, the food there is amazing so if you end up going there I can suggest more. Boston- Most places in The North End are really good, I am partial to Lemoncello - sp?-great authentic Italian food. |

I would have to dig, but I can find places I loved in most major cities in the US from my past travels.

This is from my cousin who lived in Goshen, IN for a while and I trust his opinions when it comes to things like this. Right now he is finishing grad school in Sweden and I asked him what is the one place you would want to eat if you were back in Goshen. This is his response:
"Lunch at South side soda shop (diner). Coffee at the electric brew (cafe). Dinner at venturi (pizza). Drinks at constant spring (bar). All are downtown/close to each other And definitely ice cream at the chief if you're there when it's open." Then he added this: "Sorry about his luck having to go there haha" |
