IWS #211 Results
Good turnout for this one. Glad that my horrific delay did not dampen enthusiasm.
1. Other than Winnie The Pooh, name a character from the Winnie The Pooh universe. Tigger 23 Piglet 6 Eeyore 6 Christoper Robin 1 Winnie The Pooh 1 If one were going on the original books, I think that the answer would have to be Piglet or possibly Eeyore. However, the "universe" of Winnie The Pooh includes the Disney shows/movies, and I think that Tigger is certainly the character that comes to mind when thinking of those. I thought that Tigger would win this, but I thought that it would be closer and that Christopher Robin would get more love. 2. Other than Mickey Mouse, name a character from the Mickey Mouse universe. Minnie Mouse 19 Donald Duck 11 Goofy 6 Mickey Mouse 1 We are, I think, a pretty sophisticated IWS crowd now. Minnie is not really the second character that comes to mind in the Mickey Mouse universe. But a lot of people assumed (rightly) that the play off of Mickey's name would be enough. I might have gone Donald Duck here. 3. Other than age 10, what is the perfect age for a kid to enjoy Disney World? Nine 13 Eight 9 Five 7 Eleven 4 Seven 1 Twelve 1 Thirteen 1 Ten 1 The gravity of round numbers is such that people will just guess the number closest to the forbidden round number. I think that the right answer here is seven. But I probably would have gone 9 or 11. 4. Other than The Cat in the Hat and Green Eggs and Ham, name a Dr. Seuss book. How The Grinch Stole Christmas 13 The Lorax 11 One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish 6 Oh, the Places You'll Go 3 Horton Hears a Who 3 The Cat in the Hat 1 I would have bombed this, guessing Oh, the Places You'll Go based on everyone getting that as a graduation present. Good back and forth fight between the Christmas classic and the most recent big budget Dr. Seuss movie. 5. What is the most fun game all time featuring Mario? Super Mario Brothers 22 Mario Kart 7 Mario Brothers 3 Super Mario Brothers Three 3 Super Mario World Mario 64 1 I purposely said "most fun" and not "best." I think that Mario Kart is the most fun. Super Mario Brothers is the all-time classic and the one on which I suspect most of us have spent the most hours. SMB3 is an amazing game and, I think, has a good claim to being the best. Kind of surprised Super Mario Galaxy didn't get a vote. 6. What pre-child activity, made more difficult to do with young children, do parents miss the most? Sex 22 Drinking/Going to Bar/Going Out 7 Sleep/Night's Rest 5 Vacation 2 Movies 1 Sex. When the answer can possibly be sex, then it is sex. For me and Mrs. A, I think that the real answer is movies. The other stuff on the list above, we manage to do, though with less frequency than we would like. But "going to the movies" has pretty much fallen prey to "Let's not pay a sitter and just stay in and watch Netflix when the kids go to bed instead." Indeed, it was the Oscars that got me thinking about this question. THE RESULTS Have you considered adopting a pet instead? Code:

Damn I started 2 for 2 and then it went downhill from there. I went 11 years old instead of 9 and then flubbed on Dr Suess book with Horton. Mario Kart should have won.. and sex didn't even cross my mind. *sigh*

Man, I thought 9 and 11 would be the two top answers for Disneyworld age, and I'd just have to pick the correct one. Turns out I whiffed, and 11 wasn't even second place.

Turns out that the page of the spreadsheet that listed scores had errors affecting five names. This did not affect the computation of the scores. Here's the correct list:

9 or anything under 10 is best in real life... especially for the parents, because according to Disney World, anyone 10 and over is an adult for purposes of ticket pricing.

Surprised with as much love for rounds number 5 wasnt more popular for Disney.

D'oh I had written the Grinch first and changed it to One Fish Two Fish. Would've had 100% if I kept it.

I can try to think of something, but if you have an idea you are free to run with it. I haven't memorized the winners list, but I've already run a couple and am more than willing to defer.

Actually, I'm formulating a theme (assuming it hasn't been used in the past 20 contests or so) and can post something in the next few days. If you change your mind though Marmel, let me know.

And it's at the expense of a lot of sleep, time-wise, if I recall. I can't believe I know so much about the sex life of "CU Tiger" on the FOFC forum. But I do. I do. |
