McDonalds Shakin' Flavor Fries
McDonalds is introducing new fries to the St Louis area and Northern California. it is their Shakin' Flavor Fries
They come in 3 flavors: Garlic Parmesan, spicy Buffalo or zesty ranch. I tried the Spicy Buffalo the other day. They were pretty good. Dipped iin ranch and they would have been outstanding. I dont eat at McDonalds much anymore. But I would like to try all 3 flavors. Interesting concept. McDonald's is testing new seasoned french fries called Shakin’ Flavor Fries | Fox News

Almost positive Burger King has tried this at some point in the past few years.
If a fast food place really wanted to make some waves, they should try to make some locations into a trashy pub. |

I think they go over-the-top with the flavors. Just offer customers packets of garlic salt and seasoned salt. Flavored fries is dumb.

I also like how none of their ideas ever correlates to making better food. Upgrade your spicy chicken sandwich and I'll buy from you instead of Wendys.

Hard to believe McDonalds, et al. are relevant anymore with all of the health conscience fast casual places available nowadays. I've lived a block away from McDonalds and 2 blocks from a Burger King for over a year and haven't stepped foot in either one yet. Quality counts!

Right? I'm always amazed when I see cars in their parking lots. I guess some people are just oblivious to how bad that stuff is for you / don't care to find something healthier. |

I don't eat "lower" fast food as much as I used to ever since I moved into an actual city with more food variety, but sometimes you just want to spend $2-3 on a couple-few sandwiches and you can't get that at many places. It may be garbage for you, but the McDonalds of the world have their place for me

Considering what a mediocre imitation of the Big Mac the Big King burger is, no interest to even try the CBK. Besides, their original chicken sandwich ain't half bad.

This is pretty offensive, but the entire middle part of our country is poor and fat. McDonalds is doing just fine. |

I think people are more health concious. I've seen a ton of Subway stores open up in Illinois. Seems there is one on every block in Chicago.
As for McDonalds, I think they'll always have a base of consumers. It's still big with kids and still big in poorer communities. When I do fast food it's usually Wendys. But in a rush or when I travel I'll hit up a McDonalds because it's quick and I know what I'm getting. I think familiarity plays a big role in people's eating habits. |

There's not really a shortage of upper middle class cars in the drive-thru around here. Especially at breakfast, lunch, and after events.

Yeah, even when I lived in Italy, I would still hit up Mickey D's occasionally.

I hit McDonalds on my way to the airport for business trips. Typically I can't find a non-stop, so if I'm going cross country a trip to McDonald's will fill me up for the trip and the inevitable "got into my hotel late, so there's no place to eat." There is nothing in this world that can fill for hours like McDonald's does.

Yeah, they have a wide base but in the poorer parts of the city they are literally everywhere. Maybe that has more to do with the land being worth more to operate out of. |

{thinks about locations both here & closer to Atlanta} Ours (Athens area) sit on largely prime real estate, in terms of being commercially zoned with high traffic. Heart of downtown Atlanta locations aren't great mostly (then again, what locations in the heart of downtown are?) but once you reach the 'burbs they're similarly located to the ones around here. Same is true for the more affluently traveled parts of the city like Buckhead, like the one that's only 1.6 miles from the Governor's Mansion. It's all about being where people are/are traveling at meal times: near malls, offices, theaters, highways, etc.

Maybe there's some regionality in play here too. In some of the poorer neighborhoods around here (and several parts of Atlanta) there's not a concentration of hamburger chains but you can't swing a dead cat without hitting several chicken places, both franchise & locally owned.
Hell, at about $8 for a upsized combo (which you have to do in order to get even a reasonable amount of fries at McD's any more) it's not really a "poor person's" location afaic. Even the "dollar menu" ain't a buck anymore.

I'd be really curious as to where the top 10 or so most profitable McDonald's are located. Doesn't seem to be easily Googleable.

Not McDonalds but I bet its the same... my sister manages a Dominos and her franchise owner owns 100 stores or so. The one that services Fort Bragg in Fayeteville, NC supposedly dwarfs the others by an unbelievable amount. So I'm gonna go with McDonalds closest to military bases, especially though in less urban areas, as my guess. |

That's either "ding, ding, ding, we have a winner" OR "IWS", 'cause I figure the same.

But isn't that a delivery thing? I mean the Dominos being such a powerhouse there & all that.

McDonald's fries are a total guilty pleasure for me. There are fewer things more satisfying to my taste buds.
They don't need all the extra stuff though.

The McDonald's near SE 89th St in Oklahoma City just off I-35 used to be the top selling McDonald's in the world a few years ago.

I never eat at McD's these days for anything other than their breakfast menu, and even then only rarely. BK I just never liked period.
