MS Access question

Excel I can do...access not so much. I know just enough to be dangerous.

Got asked to troubleshoot a form used in another department. For the life of me can't make any sense of it.

The form compiles training hours from hire date forward for all employees in the DB. When pulling up the first record, name, DOB, SSN, Hire Date all populate from the tables.

Training hours is not populating...or so it would seem. When printing /print preview, the total hours appears. But does not display in any view on screen.

From what I can tell, field is set up the same as the other fields pulling from tables and displaying OK.

Am I missing something obvious?

There is a visible property that might be turned off which might allow it to show up on Print Preview but not the form.

Probably didn't explain very well

The field title and text box appear in form view. The value is not populating the text box.

However the value is populating in both preview and a hard copy.

So in form view the text box border shows up, but with no value?

Correct

When tabing through records, the other details change. This field never shows a value.

But it is there, since it's viewable in print preview

Just curious. If you click into the Total Hours field on the form do you get a value?

Some possibilities from weird things I've seen:

Is this field in a sub form?
Are there multiple fields stacked up on top of each other on the form?
Is the field locked? (I think that's the term used, it's been awhile)

Nope. In fact since its a sum from another table, can't click in the field.
