Should I get FoF2k4?
I only played the demo. So I have no clue how drafts are handled or the effects of player conflicts or anything like that.
Here are some questions I have: - Is there an expansion draft? - Do teams relocate on their own? - Do teams trade among themselves? I'll post more as I think of them. Please add what you really like/dislike about the game Thanks in advance!! |

The top questions have already been answered. LIKES: -Best game of the series. By far Jim's best work. -The off-season is a blast to play. -Not as easy as previous versions -Can stare with fictional players (thanks to some terrific utility writers) -It has that "I have to play one more season before I turn the computer off" feeling to it. the last game was a very underrated game IMO, but it was missing something. -career stats for every player -Game by game stats for every player -injury and inflation controls DISLIKES: -The Hall of Fame feature could work better -some end of game logic problems -play calling is average. Another person has said it and I agree "you just don't get the feeling you have enough control over the clock" -Some roster structure I still don't like. If I want to carry 2 QB's no FB's and 7 WR, I should have that option. (Skydog's head just exploded I think) Should you get the game? Yes. Most of my dislikes are being nitpicky. I probably wouldn't call the plays anyway. I can create my own hall of fame. There isn't a gamebreaker in the list for me. This isn't a perfect game. (what game is?) This IS a great game. I'd say I'm already nearing the 25 hour mark with the game. I'll be well over 40 hours by the middle of December. That's about 75 cents per hour. . . and the number will continue to drop well into the new year. It doesn't get much better than that IMO. TroyF |

Excellent information. Thank you.
I am awaiting the release of TPF as was already mentioned but the more I read about FOF 2004 the more I want to get it along with TCY. Even though TCY never grabbed my attention via the demo it's appeal has grown for me with the release of FOF 2004. |

I'm still wouldn't be surprised if the demos cost Jim customers. They highlight the weak spots of the series and hide the outstanding aspects. If I had played the demo before buying my first copy of FOF, I doubt I would have bought the game.
My thoughts on FOF4/FOF2004 Plusses: Great sim engine. Very believeable stats. Immersive, addictive gameplay. Improved AI (based on FOF4) and what appears to be even better AI in FOF2004. Minuses: Spartan Interface. Not much eye candy. Not much sense of being part of a thriving, active league. (A newspaper feature would help, IMHO) Weak individual game presentation. Text spews out in gobs on the screen. (A CM-style text presenter would add a lot here). Weak search functions. Overall, the negatives are minor in comparison to the positives. I highly recommend. FOF has to be in my top ten list of games. Last edited by Godzilla Blitz : 11-25-2003 at 03:04 AM. |

What do you mean by that ? Haven't been far enough in my current career to see it opened yet.

I wrote a thread about it. In my pre patch career, there was only 1 OL, no ILB, and no S in the hall. I did read where post patch this has been improved a bit, but I still think certain positions are skewed. TroyF |
