The Georgian Conquest of Ankara
The vile Ottomans are under siege in their western provinces by an ambitious Doge of Venice. Even Constantinople has fallen. The Ottoman navy is a shell of it former self, the army less than that. The glories of a once proud Sultanate are starting to collapse to the powers of Europe. From his throne, the now 69 year old King Giorgi VIII smiles. He has accomplished much in his 53 years leading Georgia, now he feels the chance to strike another blow against his western neighbors along the Turkic peninsula. Bolu, Kocaeli, Ankara, Bozok, Kayseri and Malatya are all provinces that Giorgi has ordered claims to fabricated against. He knew this moment would come, he had only hoped he would live to see it. The troops are massed and ready. The 1st Army in Kastamonu, the 2nd Army in Amasya and the 3rd Army marching for Sivas. The Georgian navy sits in the Sea of Marmara ready to blockade the staits connecting Edirne and Constantinople from Biga and Kocael. King Giorgi VIII's golden moment has arrived. War has been declared, the Casus Belli is the conquest of Ankara.  August 1601 Ankara, Bozok and Malatya are under siege. November 1601 King Giorgi VIII has died! Sad news has reverberated across the kingdom as the 69 year old King Giorgi VIII has died after 53 years on the throne. From taking pieces of Golden Horde and Ottomans, to annexing Nogai, his was a reign of expansion and glory. His spirit and legend will be remembered for all time. Regency! King Giorgi VIII has passed away before Luarsab was able to take the throne. A Regency Council will rule in his place until he comes of age. -1 Stability (+1) Rise of a Pretender! The disputed succession of Luarsab has caused a Pretender to raise an army and march for the capital! 9 Pretender regiments rise up in revolt in Imereti, believing that Luarsab's weak claim the throne is highly disputable! Giorgi Tsereteli who styles himself Giorgi IX has laid claim to the throne! Royal Marriages with Wallachia, Hungary, Muscovy, Spain and Commonwealth have been sealed once more. People who used to be neighbors and friends are attacking each other over what they perceive as the differences between us and our adversaries. We lose 4,000 manpower The religion in Alimuly changes to Orthodox. January 1602 Conversion Successful! We have converted the heretics of Ustyurt to the one and only true faith! A missionary heads to Zhetyru. February 1602 Event: State Appointed Lay Members? If we were to promote and stengthen the powers of lay members of the Church administration and bring in more state appointments, we would bring the Church under central control. The other side of the coin is that we will damage the Church's moral standing with the people. A missionary heads to Yaik! September 1602 After 373 the 3rd Army has won the siege of Malatya! They will head for Imereti to deal with the Pretender King. After 187 days the 2nd Army has won the siege of Kayseri! They march for Adana. November 1602 Economic Ideas Advance: Centralization If we centralize the state then we will find it easier to advance the ideas and agenda of the center over the regions. Bonus Effect: +1 Possible Advisor Event: The Sweating Sickness Spreads Through Kartli A virulent disease that kills peasants, clergy, merchants and nobles within hours of infection spreads quickly through the capital, creating widespread panic and death. November 1603 After 404 days, the 3rd Army has won t he siege of Adana December 1603 A New King and Heir! Luarsab I Bagrationi (4/5/3) has taken the throne! Long live the King! Erekle (3/3/2) is the new Heir! After 218 days the 2nd Army has won the siege of Bolu. They march for Kocaeli. April 1604 Conversion Successful! We have finally managed to convert the heretics of Zhetyru to the one and only true faith! A missionary heads to Mangyshlak! July 1604 After 249 days the 1st Army has won the siege of Hudavendigar! September 1604 A Revolt! Nogai Nationalists have risen up in Yaik and Mangyshlak! The 1st Army will make the long trek there. After 249 days the 2nd Army has won the siege of Kocaeli! End of the Georgian Conquest of Ankara (August 1601 – September 1604) King Luarsab and Sultan Abdulhamid have reached a peace agreement, ending the conflict between Georgia and Ottomans. Ottomans will be forced to give 10% of their monthly income for 10 years to pay for war reparations. Ottomans will cede Malatya, Kayseri, Bozok, Ankara, Bolu and Kocaeli to Georgia. Ottomans will pay 128 ducats. Georgia gains 12.5 prestige (100)

October 1605 Event: Tensions Along the Trebizond Border Borders are organic things, changing and mutating with the seasons, and with the fortunes of the latest conqueror passing by. Historians will, perhaps, say that the events that transpired in Trebizond in that year of our lord 1605, were inevitable. 'As Trebizond continued to flourish under the benevolent rule of Georgia, the yokels on the other side of the border were bound to get jealous.' Perhaps they will be less fair to us. Most of the time, these factors were beyond the control of the foreign ministers involved. December 1606 Diplomatic Technology Advance: The Galleass (14) Galleys were light and small, and it was very difficult to mount cannons on them. The Galleass was a larger vessel capable of carrying a broadside of cannons like a man-of-war. To compensate for this extra weight, Galleass would be equipped with an additional sail. After ascending to throne after coming of age in December 1603, just over five years later, King Luarsab has died! He will be known for bringing stability through the Turkish region that his father Giorgi VIII had begun to conquer, but for little else. Regency! With Luarsab's early death, a Regency Council will be in place for two years until Erekle Bagrationi comes of age. -1 Stability (+1) March 1609 The Turkish Nationalists in Ankara have been beaten. We have entered a new royal marriage with Spain and Commonwealth. April 1609 A Revolt! Candari Nationalists have risen up in Kayseri! May 1609 We have dispersed the Candari Nationalists. A diplomat heads to Ottomans to fabricate a claim on Karaman, October 1609 A diplomat heads to Golden Horde to fabricate a claim on Buzuluk. December 1609 A New King! February 1610 The siege of Adana has begun after their army of 3,000 was utterly massacred. October 1610 Conversion Successful! We have finally managed to convert the heretics of Kocaeli to the one and only true faith! A missionary heads to Bolu. December 1610 After 281 days we won the siege of Adana. End of the Georgian Conquest of Adana (February 1610 - December 1610) King Erekle has demanded Ramazan's full annexation and the war has ended. The Georgian Conquest of Van
If there's anything that King Erekle's predecessors didn't do that he has aspired to, it is to take the fight to Qara Qoyunlu, who have long been a bastion of safety for the Shia sect of Islam directly south of the Georgian border. Off and on for nearly 170 years Armenian patriots have attempted to rise up to take their provinces back from the Qara Qoyunlu horde, but have failed every time. King Erekle has read the histories and feels the plight of the Armenians, being forced to live among a people that oppress them. However, King Erekle does not wish to free the Armenians as a sovereign nation, he wishes to take their provinces and integrate them into Georgia, making them free citizens and giving them the same liberties as his own Georgian people have. Qara Qoyunlu has been a powerful entity in the middle east. They have multiple vassals: Haasa, Aq Qoyunlu, Tabarestan, Shammar and Shivran. They have had a strong alliance with Golden Horde, an enemy that King Erekle's forefathers were quite familiar with, for nearly 150 years. It is the appeal of moving south into Qara Qoyunlu's territory that sparked Erekle to form an alliance with the Egyptian Mamluks. King Erekle has called upon his banners. The 1st Army in Samtskhe, the 2nd Army in Khundzia and the 3rd Army in Sivas. The Commonwealth, Muscovy and his new allies, the Mamluks have agreed to join the war.  February 1611 The 1st Army arrives in Van, while the 3rd Army sieges Erzincan and the 2nd Army battles in Shirvan. May 1611 After a shocking loss in Shirvan by combined Shirvan and Qara Qoyunlu forces, the 2nd Army has retreated to Crimea. The 1st Army left Van to track down the Shirvan Army in the Georgian province of Khundzia. Aq Qoyunlu has also been integrated by Qara Qoyunlu. Event: Successful Bureaucracy An empire of this size needs a lot of bureaucrats, perhaps offering a sign up bonus will encourage their numbers to grow. King Erekle decides to do whatever it takes. -163.03 ducats, +50 administrative power Military Technology Advance: Tenaille (14) It was difficult to fire around curved walls, thus once attackers got close enough to the fortification, the ability of other parts of the defenses to provide flanking fire was nullified. The development of star-shaped bastions allowed every part of a wall to be supported from other parts. Bonus Effect: Combat Width +2, Infantry Fire +0.50, Enables Reformed Eastern Hussars, Eastern Caracole and Southern Cossacks, can now build Tenaille. Economic Ideas Advance: Nationalistic Enthusiasm The supporting of our troops is vital to national defense. With our excellent administration we are able to secure generous discounts for our supplies. Bonus Effect: Land Maintenance Modifier -10% October 1611 We have won the siege of Erzincan after 248 days. Our armies are struggling to cope with smaller detachments from Qara Qoyunlu. November 1611 We have entered new royal marriages with Muscovy and Spain. April 1612 After 187 days we have won the siege of Erzurum. May 1612 After 156 days we have won the siege of Yerevan. December 1612 Event: Growth of Cities attracts Serfs It seems as if serfs are moving out of the provinces and aim to earn a living in the capital. This is creating turmoil in the country, but our capital may benefit in the long run. King Erekle accepts this. -1.0 Base Tax in Tarki, +25% Local Autonomy in Tarki, +1.0 Base Tax in Kartli. After 156 days we have won the siege of Van! March 1613 After 94 days we have won the siege of Nakhchivan. June 1613 We have lost the siege of Ustyurt! February 1615 Event: The Weeping Song The war has taken a heavy toll upon the mothers and wives of our nation, and as you pass this ragged old widow where she sits, her faced buried deep in her palmed hands, your heir asks: 'Oh Father, why are all the women weeping?' King Erekle tells young Giorgi that they are all weeping for their men. -40.00 ducats, -2.00 war exhaustion. April 1616 We spend 125 administrative power to raise stability to +2. May 1616 Event: National Bank Pays Dividends Several shrewd loans have led to very good profits at our National Bank. The bank is hiking its dividend and buying back some of its shares. +80.68 ducats September 1616 After 421 days we have won the siege of Shirvan. It should be noted, that despite the lack of updates month to month, Muscovy and the Commonwealth have been taking Qara Qoyunlu provinces left and right. We are slowly but surely wearing them down. December 1616 Event: Land Technology Research Useless Several prominent men in our country are pointing out that the path we are going when it comes to army research is utterly foolish and will amount to nothing. They demand that we stop the current approach and stick with what was good enough for our fathers. King Erekle ignores them. -10 Prestige (86) December 1616 Muscovy has accepted peace with Qara Qoyunlu. February 1617 After 121 days we have won the siege of Ardabil. End of the Georgian Conquest of Van (January 1611 – February 1617) After six years of bloody war, King Erekle and Qara Yusuf II have reached a peace agreement. Qara Qoyunlu will cede Van, Erzincan, Yerevan, Erzurum and Ganja to Georgia. Georgia gains 7.5 prestige (100) Mission Complete: Conquer Van! +10 prestige (100), +15 administrative power. Really enjoying this thread. It's actually got me into EU IV. I've had it for a while and tried several times to get into it but just been overwhelemed by it all and not really understanding what/how to do everything. Having read this, gave it another try and am finally getting my head around it. Started a game as Castille with moderate success before finding a mod that stretches from 50ad to 9999ad which I have begun as the Mongols.
So thanks for posting all this, it's got me well and truly addicted  |

The Georgian Conquest of Konya
Following in the footsteps of his father, King Erekle finished off a very successful first campaign against the Ottomans. A long truce, sandwiched with a very successful war against Qara Qoyunlu, leads the 25 year old king to another potential war with Ottomans. Their peace treaty ended in 1619 and the Ottomans are allies with Tunis and Georgia's own historically long-term rival Golden Horde. Boasting a stronger military and navy than both rival countries combined, King Erekle has ordered his 2nd and 3rd Armies to the Ottoman border, while the 1st Army camps in Sarai along the Golden Horde border. There are two goals here: take as much Ottoman land as possible. Complete our mission to take Buzuluk from Golden Horde. Spain, Commonwealth and Wallachia are all interested in coming to Georgian aid in this new conflict and conquest. Sound the horns and let loose the hounds of Hell!  September 1620 Georgian troops arrive in Hudavendigar and Konya. The 1st Army marches on the Golden Horde province of Tsaritsyn. December 1626 Event: United in Prayer Erekle I Bagrationi, being a man of faith, has found an unusually personal way of creating trust and ensuring loyalty. While perhaps forsaking some of the distance sometimes needed in diplomacy, it can create stronger bonds than any formal agreement. He has considered employing this method again on an upcoming visit to a foreign capital, although it is not certain if it will be successful. King Erekle has had new thoughts in recent months. If his army can cut a swath through Uzbek, there are vast uncolonized lands to the north and east in Sibera. Erekle has grand machinations on creating a glorious Georgia that runs from the Black Sea to the so-called Pacific Sea past Ming and Japan. It has become his life's goal to turn the Kingdom of Georgia into a truly global empire. Erekle declares war, sending armies to Bashkortostan, Agyidel and Qaraqalpak.  October 1627 Conversion Successful! We have finally managed to convert the heretics of Kutahya to the one and only true faith! A missionary heads to Icel. After 94 days we have won the siege of Bashkortostan! November 1627 After 125 days we have won the siege of Qaraqalpak! January 1628 Conversion Successful! We have finally managed to convert the heretics of Karaman to the one and only true faith! A missionary heads to Konya. February 1628 An Army of 24,000 Uzbek soldiers was beaten out of Zhetyru and sent to retreat with 12,000 troops left. March 1628 After 218 days we have won the siege of Agyidel! April 1628 In Bashkortostan a cadre of 15,000 Uzbek and Perm forces were beaten back by Georgian armies. May 1628 We have put Perm and Bashgird under siege. Good dynasty! In my French dynasty I tried expanding similarly to you, but pretty much the entire map turned on me because they were threatened, so I had Britain with a lot of the northern provinces attacking me on one front and Spain / Portugal attacking me on the other front. It was horrible. Glad you have the diplomatic strength to keep it together!

Thanks guys!
Brian, basically you need to be able to claim a province to be able to get it easier through a war, it also gives you a reason to go to war without unnecessarily raising war exhaustion and losing stability. Coring the province will help keep revolts down (to a point) and allows you to rake in income from the province. In effect, it makes the province worth something to you.

El Dorado came out and while I haven't purchased it yet, they have added provinces and made some significant changes. Time for a NEW AAR... I am open to suggestions...
