Lol, Mac Howard had this feature back in the SAAP days.

Has there even been the ability to import careers from prior versions? That's the main thing for me - I get addicted with one club, play the heck out of the game, and then the new version with it's flashy new features is released, robs me of my enthusiasm to play the old version, yet I don't want to start again.

Thirded. The claim is that it's too difficult but I'm not buying. I'm not asking you to revise all the leagues in my FM2015 save to their FM2016 rules and whatnot, just use the new engine with all my same player and league data. OOTP does it just fine.

Meh...I'd say fourth'ed, but I've long since given up on the game. I've wanted this feature for many years. Unfortunately, SI has clearly indicated that they are too lazy to attempt such an ambitious endeavor.

...when Football Manager 2012 came out

...when Football Manager 2010 was announced

with many less complex games you can´t even continue a save after a new patch, so i am not really confident that this is actually an easy thing.

no one said it was easy. it's hard. but in 7 years, it's achievable if you want it to be.

Honestly, they could spend the entire FM 2017 development cycle working on zero new features outside of previous game imports, and it'd be the best thing ever.

But, we've had this discussion with pretty much every version of FM for a long, long time.

The in-built create a club may be what convinces me to buy once I'm done with my current FM 14 save.

I feel weird that the transfering from one game to the next has never been an issue for me with FM.

Usually that's because there's a change to the structure of the database - an additional field, table, etc. Even in those cases it is not impossible. It would require logic written to detect the 'old save', and insert and populate the new fields tables etc. If a game is in beta then obviously you would not invest the time in migrating old saves to a new format.

Me either, but I think it's because I'm a habitual re-starter when it comes to games. Starting fresh never bothers me.

I feel like I stop playing FM when I am done with that team and the prospect of starting over is too hard. I too wouldn't want to import my team from an old save.

I wish there was an option to where you can't be fired, for those who simply want to stick with one team.

you can unlock/buy that in classic mode, not sure it carries over to the main game.

Actually, i am 99% sure this is already in the normal mode as well. Upon starting the game you need to activate the in game Editor, then in the upper right corner of the Profile screen tip the little pencil and you can Set yourself to unfireable.

Definitely killed my productivity today. Didn't think we'd see beta until Friday so I chose to work from home today instead of Friday so I wouldn't be tempted.

Beta seems quite playable so far, much more so than last year.

Out of the Park Baseball has been able to carry over saves for years. And depending on how you set up your league it can be every bit as complex as FM.
