Just curious if this has made national news yet? It's a big thing here in the Baltimore/Washington area but wasn't sure if its made its way to anywhere else yet?

It made the NY Times this morning.
Hope that the situation is resolved peacefully. Chestertown is a lovely place, one of the nicest on the eastern shore.

I am going to be really interested to see how administration reacts after this is all said and over with in terms of the VP of student affairs job and the Dean of Students job.
This is the 3rd straight day of closing, and this doesn't help their recruiting efforts. Although it seems from comments parents have been largely supportive of the colleges efforts with the exception of why was this kid allowed back to begin with. I will say if someone pulls a gun on my campus they are done, they aren't fit to be apart of our community anymore. I was shocked to hear they let him back after the first incident. |

The latest - closed through Thanksgiving break.
Washington College on Twitter: "Campus closed through Thanksgiving Break. Please watch email for updates from professors. https://t.co/nsGtXRDTqj https://t.co/Wi1d2IEjRB" And a little trivia... the College Pres, Sheila Bair, might be familiar - she was head of the FDIC and on the short list for Obama's Treasury Secretary back after he initially got elected. |

This makes sense, as it would be hard to get these kids back, plus I am sure they are hoping this buys time to catch this kid. Thanksgiving break couldn't have come at a better time for them. I am starting to think he committed suicide though and it will be a while before anybody finds him. The amount of support for this kid on their Yik Yak page honestly surprised me. Talking about he was being bullied and nobody was doing anything about it and they want him to come home safe. Seems like a nice nit community they have their at Washington. Nice catch with the trivia, as I hadn't realized that |

Yes, closing through Thanksgiving was the right move. It's hard to see the College's endgame, though, if he is not found during the next week. Maybe he's dead already and there's no threat anymore, or maybe he's just waiting for the College to open in order to carry out an attack. Deciding when to reopen while the latter remains a possibility would be a very tough call for the school's president.
