College Football Sims

How has there not been a college football sim since Bowl Bound? It's almost baffling. And how is that game still being sold for $30???

It's kind of baffling - I really like Bowl Bound (except my current install where I constantly get a weird crash with error message) but I would have thought by now we'd have another option.

Within about the first 6 months it came out I was getting odd crashes. I was told to just re-download and try again and since that I have had no issues. Have you tried to uninstall and install again? There was something I had open when I installed it causing issues I am 99 percent sure.

fwiw, I had the same problem, needing to reset my license. I was taken care of on that with some of the most amazing above & beyond customer service in years. Nothing more than a simple post here needed IIRC.

YMMV but it was about as painless as possible for me.

I bought it last week spent about an hour playing it. Was not my cup of tea, so I got a refund. I thought FOF was micromanagement heavy until I played Bowl Bound.

Greydog handles their elicense resets in house rather than actually using that companies' customer service. It is pretty painless compared to the other companies that make you contact elicense directly.

Maybe I'm alone in my approach to FOF... control the draft, control free agency, click 'auto' for just about everything else.

Bowl Bound is definitely more micromanagement than FOF, but I think it's a bit of a necessary evil with something like college football given the roster sizes and recruiting periods. Strategy wise, my approach to BB is closer to FOF - 'auto'.

Both titles are a long way off the type of micromanagement needed for FM.

I preferred the playoff system of BBCF, but it crashes too much for me because I guess the way I play breaks stuff I dunno. But the micromanaging wasn't my cuppa, so I preferred TCY for that reason but really I just always end up wanting to play NCAA on the console after too much text simming football, so I think it's why I don't do it anymore.

The lack of a good college basketball sim for console makes it easier to play FBCB and not feel like I'm missing something.

Too many crashes for me too. I actually was never able to really get into a full season due to crashes just killing my moments of enjoyment.

If anyone has a BBCF multiplayer itch, the longtime FOFC-BBCF league is still around.

FWIW....crashes appear to be the main source of negative feedback on Steam.

I want to, but games like Saturday's take so much out of me with respect to college football. If the FOF8/2016 release goes as well as I hope, given the massive amount of work I've put into it (and will put into it), I think it's a decent bet at some point.

Well, sign me up for 10 copies of FOF8, please.

Kickstarter anyone? I don't know how much exactly I'd pay for a new TCY, but I'm willing to bet the answer would be a lot.

Great news!

What's funny is TCY was a great way for me to take out my frustrations with how Washington's football program was declining (at the time) - it was my outlet to make them great again, if only within a game sim universe.

I will buy extra copies for FOF8/2016 if it helps bring TCY 2, which is easily one of my top 3 played computer games of all time.

My game crashes like every other time I save - I worked with support a good while but nothing we did fixed it (installing in Steam vs not, etc.) I was having a lot of fun but eventually the crashes just got to me.

Yeah, there have been a couple people that I couldn't get working, but I was able to fix crashes for most people using the tech forum posts (most involve admin rights, an older control that needs to be send registered or an odd Microsoft update that needs a reg change).

Still, there always is a chance and that's why we have a pretty liberal return policy. Also, if you have the elicense version and need it reset, just pm me and I'll take care of it.

This has been one of the best year's of sales for Bowl Bound too, so I've been able to resolve more issues than in the past just on the volume of users now (and more chances to solve these lower probability issues).
