There is no easy way to say this…our mighty, noble friend Lemmy passed away today after a short battle with an extremely aggressive cancer. He had learnt of the disease on December 26th, and was at home, sitting in front of his favorite video game from The Rainbow which had recently made it’s way down the street, with his family.

We cannot begin to express our shock and sadness, there aren’t words.

We will say more in the coming days, but for now, please…play Motörhead loud, play Hawkwind loud, play Lemmy’s music LOUD.
Have a drink or few.

Share stories.

Celebrate the LIFE this lovely, wonderful man celebrated so vibrantly himself.

HE WOULD WANT EXACTLY THAT.

Ian ‘Lemmy’ Kilmister

1945 -2015

Born to lose, lived to win.

Even when the man was wrong -- and he occasionally was -- he was always above all else himself. And I respect that an awful lot.

Rest in peace.

Damn, just saw an article in Rolling Stone about their 40th Anniv tour. 70 though. That's alright. That's a life lived at least.

And Lemmy crammed more into those 70 years than any 5 men probably could. Louder than everyone else to the end, R.I.P!!

Who'd win in a wrestling match, Lemmy or God?

I find the cult of Lemmy/Motorhead fascinating....mostly because it's kind of based on ether. 99.9% of the people who will claim to be deeply affected by Lemmy's death, will write some soliloquy equating to him to rock royalty, yet have never heard a single Motorhead song aside from 'Ace of Spades'. None of which is to say that Lemmy/Motorhead don't deserve the praise, or to claim that I'm any different/better, just that I find it fascinating how many people have formed a deep connection with Lemmy and Motorhead that seems to only be fractionally based on their actual music. It reminds me of how every third gutterpunk is wearing a massive Crass backpatch, despite the fact that Crass sold like 4 records. I guess that's the definition of iconic. R.I.P. Lemster.
