Most Amazing Single Game Performance?
I thought my TE L.J. Smith had a pretty good game with 11 catches for 116 yards and 3 Touchdowns, but the following week McNabb force fed the ball to someone else even more. Check out my copy and paste of the printed boxscore:
Philadelphia Individual Statistics Rushing Att Yards Avg Long TD 31 Anthony 18 61 3.3 15 2 25 Woodson 6 12 2.0 3 0 5 McNabb 4 18 4.5 7 0 49 Mills 2 5 2.5 3 0 Passing Att Comp Yards Yd/Att Long TD Int Sckd 5 McNabb 43 30 319 7.4 20 1 0 3 Receiving Catch Yards Avg YAC Long TD 87 Pinkston 20 231 11.5 33 19 1 88 Riddick 4 52 13.0 13 20 0 82 Smith 3 15 5.0 14 7 0 83 Lewis 1 5 5.0 3 5 0 31 Anthony 1 9 9.0 3 9 0 84 Burns 1 7 7.0 0 7 0 Pinkston's achievement is even more amazing considering that his ratings (at least according to my scout who is only average with wide receivers) are unimpressive and I was leaning towards not resigning him, but his performance has consistently been above what would be expected for his meager ratings. Here are his ratings: Avoid Drop: 22/27 Getting Downfield: 20/20 Route Running: 67/67 Third Down Catching: 4/4 Big Play Receiving: 52/52 Courage: 22/22 Adjust to Ball: 26/26 Avoid Fumbles: 100/100 Punt Returns: 54/55 Kick Returns: 0/0 Endurance: 83/83 Special Teams: 38/38 This performance convinces me of Skydog, Quiksand's and others possibly point of noticing that route running is a very important stat to get the ball to the receiver. Pinkston really doesn't have a lot else going for him. In my immature universe (only in year 2006), this was the highest catch total by 5 in a game. Marvin Harrison was second with 15 in a game in 2004 against the Jets. It was the 2nd highest total yardage receiving in a single game as Deion Branch had a 249 yard receiving game in 2005 on only 8 receptions! Anyway, I guess one of the points of this post is: You can't judge a player just by the little green and red bars and you really need to look at performance which I just love about this game. I'm so glad I kept Pinkston. Also, of note Pinkston doesn't have any special relationships with McNabb other then Pinkston is listed as the leader of the receivers, but McNabb doesn't have any affinity with him listed or vice versa. Also of note, this game occurred against a fairly good (but declining) Carolina defense. Their starting Cornerback was out injured and the backup wasn't nearly as good (mostly 20's and 30's for ratings.)

Johnson had three TD receptions of 69+ yards that day, which was simply insane. |

Dola -
Pinkston ended the season having been targeted 181 times with 118 completions for 1342 yards with 5 TD's and 9 drops. Not bad for a guy who is really not rated that well. Then again, McNabb is rated very high by my scouts. Also, Smith had a great year in the final year of his contract with 102 catches for 812 yards for 8 TD's with only 3 drops. I had to pay him approximately 4 million per year for 5 years in a contract extension and am definitely facing cap difficulties not too far down the road. Time to enter the playoffs. |

I had to be really impressed (is that the word I'm looking for? Maybe stunned) when in my second season with the real-life Panthers, Rodney Peete was not only still the starter, he had a game against Detroit where he threw for 500 yards and three TDs!
