RIP Garry Shandling
Garry Shandling Dead at | TMZ.com
This blows. One of the most under-appreciated and funniest shows of all time was Larry Sanders. Just a really talented guy. |

Really liked all his shows, very dry sense of humor and yes, Larry Sanders very underappreciated. RIP

Shandling was brilliant. Just an easy gentle delivery. Very self deprecating and woodyalleneqsue.

I was one of the few who really loved "What Planet are you From." He was great in that. My mom always hated him, so I didn't pay that much attention to him growing up, but I've really come to appreciate him all around.

Larry Sanders Show is so good that I bought bootleg version of the series off Ebay awhile back. It's unfortunately not on HBO GO.

God dammit. Can't say I get bummed out too much when celebrities die, even If I enjoyed them, but this one kicks me square in the gut. The original Showtime/Fox Gary Shandling show was first time I really understood how comedy didn't just have to be about the punchline. It's one of 13 shows that I keep on my computer at all times just to watch over and over etc. Of course another one is Larry Sanders.
I don't know how to make this sound without coming across as, well, something, but I always disliked the "Jewish" sense of humor. I don't find Woody Allen funny at all, in fact he annoys the ever loving shit out of me, but Shandling transcended that style, made me love whatever he was doing. He was just so fucking brilliant and his body of work isn't close to big enough for the talent he had. This sucks. |

I think "It's Garry Shandling's Show" was one of the most underrated comedies of all time. If you've never seen it, find clips on youtube. Basically, it's a sitcom about Garry Shandling, who is completely aware that he's on a sitcom. It's hard to explain, but it was genius. Plus, his guest stars were always great.
One of my favorite moments from that show was Rob Reiner coming on, asking for work, since he wanted to get back in TV. Garry hired him as a housekeeper, and pretty much the whole episode, Reiner is in the background, washing dishes, etc. Someone comes over, and realizes it's Reiner, and asks him why he's doing all of Garry's housework. He responds, "Hey, it's great to be on TV!" Loved that show, and his dry sense of humor. |

Yup. With all the love being poured on Larry Sanders, I hope that The Gary Shandling Show does not get lost in the mix. Folks on this board have good taste to remember it.

yy. I really didn't see much of Larry Sanders, unfortunately (didn't have HBO). Loved The Gary Shandling Show though.
