A total mess of a patchwork for the AMC and 2 Strikers. Had to bring up Michael Rauth, who has no business player 1st team soccer at this level.

76' - We get a cheap goal. Off a corner, the ball bounces around a bit before it goes off the GK and is scored as an own goal. 1-0
90' - Hain gives us the cushion in extra time. 2-0

That was a total mess of a game.

Final Score: 2-0 Win

Adlung and Rodri return as does Angha from international play.. Okotie needs a bit more time. We've built a 3 point lead at the top of the standings.

1' - Verhoek (HSP) heads in a long cross for the early lead. 0-1.
18' - Rodri is injured again. Guess Okotie is coming back this game.
41' - Adlung injured again.
63' - Weigl scores off a rebound from a shot by Hain. 1-1

Final Score: 1-1

Adlung out for 2 more weeks. Looks like Rodri will be fine.

Bedia injured in practice. Weill miss a week.

With 4 games to go, it looks like we've just about secured the playoff spot at worst. Our next two games are vs Aue and Heidenheim. We shouldn't need to be at our very best to win those. We finish the season off at Greuther Fürth and at home vs. Kaiserlautern.

München Lions (1st, 17-7-6, 58pts) v. Aue (18th, 6-7-17, 25pts)

Technically 2nd now that Fürth won their game.

Neudecker in for Adlung and Weigl will take Bedia's place. Adlung's injuries have had one good side effect. Neudecker is getting a lot of first team play and it's showing up in his training. He's gotten better. After Adlung is sold (probably) this off season, I'm hoping Neudecker can take his place. Still has a way to go.

40' - Okotie gets tackled while dribbling to the goal, but the tackle causes the ball to go right to Neudecker who gets his first goal of the season. 1-0
62' - A long shot from Vollmann is blocked, but that save caused the GK to be way out of the goal. Neudecker beats the defender to the rebound and gets his 2nd goal of the night. 2-0
74' - Könnecke (AUE) scores on the counter. The lob pass as he sprinted passed my defenders has him one-on-one with Ortega and the Aue attacker won. 2-1
89' - Neudecker gives us a 2 goal cushion with a penalty kick. 3-1

Final Score: 3-1 Win

I talk up Neudecker before the game and the kid shows up with a hat trick.

1 point over 2nd place Greuther Fürth, 8 points over Kaiserlautern in 3rd. 3 matches to go.

Angha is out due to reaching the yellow card limit. Schindler moves over, Sagler in at DC. Also sitting Vollmann for this game. Weigl will play the Central Midfielder role. Adlung is back in training but not 100%. Neudecker's performance makes it easy to leave him in and have Adlung come back for the final two games.

14' - Rodri takes a wide pass, cuts inside, run parallel until he's in the middle of the penalty area and shoots. The GK got a piece but not enough. 1-0
74' - Bedia to Annan to Okotie to Rodri, score! Rodri got off to a very, very slow start this season, but he just scored his 10th goal. 2-0

Final Score: 2-0 Win

With this win, we have secured promotion. Good thing too, Rodri picked up an injury in the game and will miss 2-3 weeks, so he's done for the season.

With the secured promotion, the board set the initial budget at just over $15M a year with $0 transfer. That's an increase of ~$2.5M a year. (I could move the slider and get $2M transfer and a budget of $12.9M a year). So there might be room to re-sign Adlung after all.

Stephan Salger suffered an injury in practice. He's out for 3 weeks.

Greuther Fürth lost their last game. A win or tie in our game with them next match gives us the 2.Bundesliga Championship.

Hain in for the injured Rodri.

31' - Possession has been about even, but they have had a few scary counter chances. We also had one counter chance, but Okotie's shot barely missed. I decide to switch to my F9 Counter to see if that helps stop their offense and maybe creates a few counter chances for me.
32' - Tripic (GF) gets a 2nd yellow and is sent off. A man advantage for ~60 minutes for me!
38' - Hain to Adlung, score! 1-0
80' - Neudecker (subbed in for Adlung in 75') scores after a corner kick. The ball bounced around for a second before Neudecker stepped up and buried it. 2-0

The Neudecker goal is especially sweet, as the Fürth coach singled him out as the weak-link on the team. Take that, jackass.

Final Score: 2-0 Win

And that does it. 2.Bundesliga Champs!

Wittek was hurt in practice this week and is out for the match. Salger is banged up too, so I have to slide Schindler over and Bülow play DC.

Kaiserlautern has an outside shot at the playoff spot. Considering they beat us last time (and put up 5 goals on us), I really want to play spoiler to them.

Hain is in again as Rodri is still out. Kaiserlautern needs to win in order to have a chance at the playoff spot, so they'll probably be attacking and with Hain in, I think F9 Counter is the way to go for this match.

1' - 20 seconds into the match, Adlung sends a long pass to Hain who waits on it, gives it back to Adlung as he sprints into the box and scores. Fastest score I think I've ever seen in FM. 1-0
90' - Okotie seals the deal in injury time. Score at the very beginning and again at the very end. 2-0

Revenge!

Final Score: 2-0 Win

RBL ends up with the playoff spot.

Rubin Okotie wins the 2.Bundesliga Top Goalscorer award.
Wittek, Angha, Adlung and Okotie were named to the 2.Bundesliga Team of the Year.

Daniel Adlung just got paid.
$1.25M/year until June, 2018. $175k loyalty bonus, $3.6k app. fee, $2.3k goal bonus, $1.2k unused sub bonus. $1.5M/year after 5 international appearances. $5M Relegation Release Clause. $8.5M Min,. Fee Release Clause (Clubs in Champions Cup)

And now Bedia is wanting to talk. I told him flat out no new contract talks (his current deal lasts until 2017).

Speaking of deals, I pissed off the board during our negotiations. I didn't even ask for much more than they were offering. I might be looking for a new job soon...

Hannover is offering a job interview. I wonder if that will get the board off their asses...

Danial Adlung wins the Fans' Player of the Year with 74% of the vote.

We have the expectation of finishing in the middle of the table. The Board has given me a budget of $18.18M/year with $1.38M in transfer money. Our scouting network has also been upgraded to anywhere in the world.

Due to all of the salary bumps due to promotion, my budget is now at $16.1M. We've got $2M to play with now.

My New Contract
They finally got back to me after I ticked them off. They were stubbornly stuck on giving me $1.05M a year. I asked for $1.2M a year. This time, they offer $1.275M a year until June 2017.

That's how it's done!

I give D(L) Peter Kurzweg a new deal. I was going to let him walk, but I kept him cheap and he provides depth. $70k/year (up from $50k/year) until June 2018.

I locked up Neudecker as well.
$300k/year until June, 2020. $1k app. fee, $625 goal, $500 unused. 10% yearly. $33M Min. Release Clause and a $23M Relegation Release clause. His agent put those last two in. If I can get $33M for him, I'll happily let him go.

Rodri wants to leave if a bigger club makes an offer. He did manage to get to 10 goals, but he was underwhelming for what we paid him. If one of the bigger clubs throws a few million my way for him, I'll sell him.

Fejsal Mulic officially leaves for Kaiserlautern. Enjoy second division play Mulic!

Congratulations on the championship! Well done.

It's great that you managed to keep Adlung in the team. How long is Okotie under contract with you?

Nice job negotiating the new contract for yourself, too.

New contract for Maximilian Wittek. The 19 year old 3.5* (4.5* potential) who is valued at $3.6M was on a $95k/year deal. He's now getting paid 10x as much.

$975k/year until June 2019 with an optional extension by the club for one year. $2.6k app, $2.6k shutout, $950 unused, 10% yearly raise, $62M Min, Release for a club in the Champions Cup and $43M Relegation Release Clause.

Last season he played in 29 matches, scoring 1 goal and had 2 Player of Match awards. His average rating was 7.12. And he's only 19 years old. So, while not worth, IMO, close to $1M right now, in a year or two it might even be considered a bargain. If he's still here.

I made a bad purchase with Stephan Salger. All of his potential has disappeared. He's now just a 2* player with 2* potential. Crap.

Bedia has stopped asking for a new deal or to be moved to a better team, so that's good.

München Lions Squad
- as of July 10th, 2015

Bold - Expected starter
Red - Final Year of contract

(All contracts run until June 30th, so $275k/year 2017 = $275k/year until June 30th, 2017)

Goalkeepers
Stephan Ortega - 22yo - $275k/year 2017 - 3.5* (4)
Michael Netolitzky - 21yo - $200k/year 2016 - 2* (2.5-3.5)
Florian Schwaiger - 19yo - $40k/year 2017 - 5s (1-2)
Max Engl - 17yo - $20k/year 2017 - 4.5s (2-3)
Gyorgy Szekely - 20yo HUN - $27.5k/year 2017 - 4.5s (1-2)
Fabian Wiesner - 15yo - $4.8/year 2017 - 3.5s (3-4)

Ortega is the main starter and under contract for 2 more years. Neto, the main backup, is in the final year of his deal. Contracts for Schwaiger and Szekely are out of contract. I was going to let them walk, but then I'd be down to just 4 goalkeepers. I re-signed both of them.

Central Defenders
Gary Kagelmacher - 27yo URU - $675k/year 2017 - 3.5* (3.5)
Christopher Schindler - 25yo - $325k/year 2016 - 3* (3)

Stephan Salger - 25yo - $363k/year 2017 - 2* (2)
Felix Weber - 20yo - $40k/year 2017 - 1.5* (2-3)
Korbinian Burger - 20yo - $50k/year 2016 - 1.5* (2.5-3.5)
Christoph Greger - 18yo - $39k/year 2017 - 1* (2.5-3.5)
Lukas Aigner - 19yo - $65k/year 2017 - 1* (2.5-3.5)
Matteo Capello - 14yo - $7.5k/year 2018 - 4.5s (3.5-4.5)
Christopher Becker - 15yo - $7.5k/year 2018 - 3.5s (3-4)
Kristian Scoria - 15yo - $7.5k/year 2018 - 2s (1.5-2.5)

Kagelmacher and Schindler are the established starters. Schindler will need a new contract soon. Like I said, Salger was a bad purchase and he'll be spending the rest of his tenure here on the B team or out on loan. I'll give Burger, who needs a new deal as well, some time on 1st team to try to help him develop. I also still have Ilie (DM) who is capable of playing DC if I need someone to step in long-term if one of my two starters gets a significant injury. Two good looking prospects in Capello and Becker.

Left Full Back / Wing Back
Maximilian Wittek - 19yo - $975k/year 2019 - 3.5 (3.5-4.5)
Sebastian Hertner - 24yo - $288k/year 2016 - 2 (2.5)
Angelo Mayer - 18yo - $47.5k/year 2017 - 1 (2.5-3.5)
Peter Kurzweg - 21yo - $70k/year 2018 - 1 (2-3)
Arian Emerllahu - 18yo ALB - $17.5k/year 2017 - 4.5s (2-3)
Cenk Asiroglu - 15yo - $4.8k/year 2017 - 2s (2-3)

Looks kinda bleak here is Wittek takes off. Mayer looks like he could replace Wittek someday, but he's got to bet better. Hertner's a decent backup, but not a long term solution.

Right Full Back / Wing Back
Martin Angha - 21yo SUI - $675k/year 2017 - 3.5 (4-5)
Andreas Scheidl - 20yo - $45k/year 2018 - 1 (1.5-2.5)
Björn Marinov - 16yo - $4.8k/year 2017 - 4.5s (3-4)

Angha is the clear starter here and I have several others who can play D(R) if need be. Marinov looks like he could be a future starter. He's already a great tackler (16) with really good Physical attributes. He just needs to work on, literally, every thing else.

Because I run a narrow diamond, using 1 DM, 2 MCs and an AMC, and that most of the players can shuffle from DM to MC and/or MC to AMC, I'm just going to list ALL midfielders here, listing the positions they can play along side their name.

Midfielders

MC/AMC - Danial Adlung - 27yo - $1.25M/year 2018 - 4.5 (4.5) < AMC
DM/MC - Julian Weigl - 19yo - $425k/year 2017 - 3.5 (3.5-4.5) < Ball-Winning MC
DM/MC - Edu Bedia - 26yo - $688k/year 2017 - 3.5 (3.5) < Regista
DM/MC - Anthony Annan - 28yo GHA - $675k/year 2016 - 3.5 (3.5)
MC/AMC - Korbinian Vollmann - 21yo - $825k/year 2018 - 3 (3-4) < Central Mid.
DM/MC/AMC - Richard Neudecker - 18yo - $300k/year 2020 - 3 (4-5)
DM/MC - Dominik Stahl - 26yo - $488k/year 2016 - 2.5 (2.5)
DM/MC - Ilie - 24yo ESP - $513k/year 2017 - 2.5 (3)
MC/AMC - Kristian Simon - 24yo HUN - $363k/year 2018 - 1.5 (2.5)
MC/AMC - Hussein Salman - 15yo - $4.8k.year 2017 - 1 (4-5)
MC/AMC - Fabian Hürzeler - 22yo - $50k/year 2016 - 1 (2)
DM/MC - Felix Uduokhai - 17yo - $21.5/year 2017 - 1 (2.5-3.5)
DM/MC - Tobias Henneke - 19yo - $55k.year 2017 - 1 (2-3)
DM/MC - Emanuel Taffertshofer - 20yo - $50k/year 2016 - 1 (2.5-3.5)
DM/MC/AMC - Eric Weeger - 18yo - $17.5k/year 2017 - 5s (2-3)
DM/MC - Alexander Fuchs - 18yo - $12.5k/year 2016 - 4.5s (1-2)
MC/AMC - Dennis Orlishausen - 15yo - $7.5k/year 2018 -3s (2-3)
MC/AMC - Christopher Benson - 15yo - $7.5k/year 2018 - 2s (1.5-2.5)
DM/MC - Hakan Sahin - 15yo - $7.5k/year 2018 - 1.5s (0.5-1.5

Weigl missed a considerable amount of time last year due to injury. I think this could also be Annan's last year. He didn't play up to his contract last year (19 matches, 2 assists, 6.96 AvRating). Stahl out performed him (25 matches, 1 goal, 3 assists, 7.00 AvRating). Annan and Stahl will be the backups for Weigl and Vollmann. Neudecker will be the main backup to Adlung and Bedia (Neudecker is a natural at DM/MC and Accomplished at AMC).

Strikers
Rodri - 25yo ESP - $1.2M/year 2017 - 3.5 (3.5)
Rubin Okotie - 28yo AUT - $675k/year 2017 - 3.5 (3.5)

Stephan Hain - 26yo - $613k/year 2016 - 2.5 (2.5)
Mustafa Duman - 18yo TUR - $16.25k/year 2017 - 1 (2.5-3.5)
Ugur Mustafa Türk - 18yo TUR - $17.5k/year 2017 - 1 (3.5-4.5)
Felix Bachschmid - 18yo - $60k/year 2017 - 1 (3-4)
Ludwig Steinhart - 18yo - $22.5k/year 2017 - 1 (2.5-3.5)
Robert Glatzel - 21yo - $42.5k/year 2017 - 1 (2-3)
Michael Rauth - 19yo AUT - $25k/year 2017 - 4s (1.5-2.5)
Johannes Zellner - 15yo - $4.8k/year 2017 - 1.5s (1-2)

Rodri and Okotie are the clear starters for now. Hain is in his last year of his contract and isn't getting any better. I think it's time Türk and Bachschmid got a bit of playing time and the chance to replace an injured striker. Replacing Adlung did wonders for Neudecker. I hope Türk and Bachschmid are up to the task.

After letting go a lot of dead weight, spending has dropped to $15.6M. The Payroll Budget right now is $18.2M with $1.3M in transfer money. So I have some money to play with.

9' - Bedia sends a long pass up the pitch and Okotie beats out the defender to it. He chips a pass to Rodri who scores easier. 1-0
10' - Adlung to Rodri. Another easy goal. 2-0
19' - Vollmann to Adlung gives us the 3-0 lead.
45' - Okotie gets a goal right before half time. 4-0
HT - I switch to my Defense tactic. I also make 2 subs. Guess that was stupid because within 10 minutes, Neudecker and Okotie go down to injuries.
86' - Rodri scores again. 5-0

Final Score: 5-0 Win

Neither Neudecker nor Okotie were seriously hurt.

August 7th, 2015 - Bundesliga Match
Gelsenkirchen v. München Lions

Gelsenkirchen won the Bundesliga last year.

Julian Weigl is out for a week. Stahl will take his place.

My first attempt and putting together my own set of Opposing Instructions.

14' - Huntelaar (GEL) get Gelsenkirchen on the board first. 0-1
34' - Rodri splits the defenders and takes a pass from Vollmann and puts it by the GK. 1-1
37' - They retake the lead off a penalty kick. 1-2
HT - We should be down a few more goals. Changing from my Press tactic to my F9 Counter.
55' - Depay (GEL) dribbles circles around Schindler and scores easily. 1-3
60' - Aogo crosses to Depay. Depay scores a header. 1-4
63' - Aogo crosses to Huntelaar who scores. 1-5
6'4 - Aogo crosses to Huntelaar who scores. 1-6
78' - Huntelaar scores another goal. 1-7
85' - Kaan Ayhan scores off a free kick. 1-8
90' - Meyer (GEL) scores their 9th goals. 90th minute and they are still flooding the box with players. 1-9

Final Score: 1-9 Lose

I knew we'd get killed when I was scouting their team. I didn't expect them to run up the score.

August 15th, 2015 - Bundesliga Match
München Lions (18th, 0-0-1, 0pots) v. Leverkusen (9th, 1-0-0, 3pts)

I got into trouble. I slammed the officials in the post game interview about a penalty kick given to my opponents after the last game. I'm suspended for a game.

Didn't watch the game.

Final Score: 1-2 Lose

Okotie scored our lone goal in the 65th minute.

Rodri is making it clear that he still wants out. He wants to be sold to a team in the Champion's League. So I transfer listed him and we'll see what happens.

Aug 22nd, 2015 - Bundesliga Match
Paderborn (13th, 0-1-1, 1pt) v. München Lions (17th, 0-0-2, 0pts)

12' - Kachunga (PAD) heads in a goal off a cross. I instruct Kagelmacher to specifically mark him.
15' - Kachunga scores a second goal.
27' - And Kachunga gets the hat trick when a long pass is head backwards by Schindler and Kachunga races after it and gets a one-on-one with the GK.

We stopped the bleeding and even managed to get a few chances. Rodri gave his usual 2 weak as hell shots that a high schooler could have stopped. Okotie had a nice goal but he was a hair offside.

Final Score: 0-3 Lose

Aug 29th, 2015 - Bundesliga Match
München Lions (18th, 0-0-3, 0pts) v. BMG (4th, 2-0-1, 6pts)

3' - Adlung to Okotie to Rodri score! 1-0
29' - Weigl passes to Rodri who gives it to Okotie who crosses in front of the GK and scores! 2-0
40' - Adlung passes it into the box, Rodri beats his man to it and puts it in the goal. 3-0
70' - Switched to my Defense tactic.
86' - Xhaka (BMG) scores to take away our shutout.

Looks like, hopefully, my team has calmed down and is back to form. Rodri is finally playing like he's auditioning for a better team.

Final Score: 3-1 Win

The transfer deadline has come and gone with no one giving me offers for Rodri, or any of my players.

September 12th, 2015 - Bundesliga Match
Hoffenheim (3rd, 3-1-0, 10pts) v. München Lions (15th, 1-0-3, 3pts)

Wittek is hurt.

8' - Firmino (HOF) heads in cross from Kim Jin Su. 0-1
21' - Burger scores off a cross. The bad news it was a cross from Kim Jin Su and he scored on his own goal. 0-2
35' - Switch to my F9 Counter. My possession tactic isn't working (can't keep possession).
37' - Firmino scores on another cross from Kim Jin Su. 0-3
45' - Firmino scores again, this time on a pass from Volland. 0-4
45' - Okotie shoots but it's blocked. Rebound goes right to Adlung who kicks it off the goal post. Ugh.
54' - Adlung sends a long pass up to Rodri. Rodri misplays it, though, the defense catches him and kills the breakaway. Ugh.
60' - Kim Jin Su crosses in, every converges and leaves Firmino wide open. A simple pass and scores easily. 0-5
82' - Rodri sends in a cross and Okotie knocks it in to prevent the shut out. 1-5
87' - Amiri scores and Kagelmacher intercepted a pass and cleared it. Except instead of doing that, he passed it to their attacker who scored easily. 1-6

So much for my team calming down.

Final Score: 1-6 Lose
