(interactive) Scarlet Heroes - Adventures in Trehanard (First Character generating!)
For those of you not aware of D&D Offshoots, Scarlet Heroes is a pen and paper role playing game intended to simulate things like the Conan the Barbarian, Fafhrd and the Grey Mouser, etcetera. It features larger then life heroes, and unlike D&D where you need to cover all the bases (Magic User, etcetera) requiring full parties, this is explicitly designed for 1-2 heroes at top.
The free quickstart is available here: Scarlet Heroes Quickstart - Sine Nomine Publishing | DriveThruRPG.com It also comes with a solo adventure generator, which I will use to put our heroes through adventures worthy of swords and sworcery, and let you folks decide what our two heroes are, and what they do. A couple quick changes for those of you who don't have time to read the quickstart: Damage is pretty different: You definitely don't have the "Bucket of Hitpoints" that comes with D&D. A creature's hit dice translates directly into how many hit points it has (a 4HD monster will have 4 HP for example). Characters will have 10 or so HP tops at first level. However, damage also changes. When you roll damage, you convert it as follows: 1 - 0 Damage 2-5: 1 Damage 6-9: 2 Damage 10+: 4 Damage The other big thing is the "Fray Die": This is to simulate the fact in sword and sorcery, the heroes can lay through groups of bad guys at any time. It's basically a bonus free damage roll that can be done any time (depending on class, is the die you roll). You can only use the Fray Die against opponents of the same level or lower (so if a first level fighter takes on 2 1 hit die thugs and a 2 HD boss, the Fray Die result can ONLY be used against the Thugs) Character creation is 4d6, drop lowest, arrange to suit, and if no stat is a 16, get a free 16. Once we decide the characters we want, I can roll up a character or give it to someone else. The next post will have a quick Next post will have a quick description of the classes and their stats.

Clerics are divinely-blessed minions of the gods, whether brave paladins of the celestial powers or tonsured shrine-priests of a more meditative bent. They are capable combatants, but also can wield the
blessings of their god in the form of magical spells. Choose this class if you want to wield a sword or hammer for a holy cause. Armors allowed: Any +Shield Weapons Allowed: Any, but limited to 1d6 damage Initial HP: 6 Plus Con Modifier HP Bonus per Level: +3 Attack Bonus: +1 Attack Bonus Gain Rate: +1 per 2 levels Fray Die: 1D6 damage Fighters are the classic warriors and swordsmen of fantasy fiction. They include not only the customary grizzled knights and hard-bitten mercenaries, but also well-born nobles, itinerant freebooters, pirates, bandits, aspiring peasant heroes, and all other characters that focus on combat skill and toughness rather than magic or special expertise. Choose this class if you want to be a fearsome warrior. Armor Allowed Any and shields Weapons Allowed Any Initial Hit Points 8 HP Gained +4 per level Attack Bonus +1 Attack Bonus Gain +1 per level Fray Die 1d8 Magic-Users are wizards, witches, sorcerers of every description, scholars of the occult, and any other hero who relies upon magic as their foremost tool. While the powers of a novice are limited, they can grow to be fearsomely mighty wielders of the eldritch arts. Choose this class if you want to cast spells and hurl magical bolts. Magic-User Class Abilities Armor Allowed None Weapons Allowed Any, but limited to 1d4 damage Initial Hit Points 4 HP Gained +2 per level Attack Bonus +0 Attack Bonus Gain +1/3 per level Fray Die 1d4, but it affects any creature Spells Known: 2+ INT modifier Thieves are those heroes who rely on skill rather than magic. While capable combatants, they focus on a repertoire of mundane talents that they elevate to something near-supernatural. Thieves choose a particular archetype to describe their focus- “expert burglar”, for example, or “cunning woodsman”, or “learned ruin explorer”. While other characters can learn to do the same things they do, others are never as good at is as a thief. Choose this class if you want your hero to be incredibly talented at their chosen expertise. Thief Class Abilities Armor Allowed Leather, but no shields Weapons Allowed Any, but limited to 1d8 damage Initial Hit Points 4 HP Gained +2 per level Attack Bonus +1 Attack Bonus Gain +1/2 per level Fray Die 1d6 Bonus: Pick a rogue sterotype (for example, stealthy burglar ,fearless ruin explorer, grizzled Woodsman) and get a free 3 point trait in it (+3 for checks that involve something to do with your trait, for example, stealth for the stealthy burger, acrobatics for the ruin explorer, tracking for the woodsman Each character will get 3 trait points as a base, and the free three point for a rogue. Dwarves get a free point in "Dwarven senses" (Darkvision, sensitivity to undergound dangers and perils) and something profession related: Elves get a free point in "Elven senses" (keen eyes, and the like) and something profession related Halflings get a free point in "Halfling Stealth" and a free bonus point Humans get +2 free points.

Ok, this is how it will work:
I'm going to roll up a set of six stats using the 4d6 drop lowest method. We will then have assignments to make. I will make the first, and then it's up to you guys. One at a time (I will allow dola, after 4 hours between picks, if no one else has stepped in.) fill in the stats + backgrounds remember, if you like a background, you can just say "Put another point in that background as your selection". Backgrounds give a +1 to skill checks that would involve that area, like if I put in "Potion Maker" as a background, it would give you a +1 to the skill check to recognize that your magic-user friend is about to drink a flask of poison, not a potion at all! Considering checks are relatively low numbered (a normal check is 2d8+Background versus a Normal target of 9, each point is vital) First up our Magic User (Currently Unnamed): Using Rolz.org to roll dice: repeat 6 4D6H => 18 ; 13 ; 13 ; 12 ; 12 ; 14 (current status: 5 stats left to assign, 13, 13, 12,12, 14, 5 Background Points left to assign, still needs a name) STR DEX CON INT 18 WIS CHA Background 1 Background 2 Background 3 Background 4 Background 5

Alright, and CrimsonFox got in touch me via Steam to give the first background point to "School Professor" (for example, that would help remember things from obscure history books or strange magic cults for example). You can add some of the additional background points to it (max 3), or add a different background.
(current status: 3 stats left to assign, 13, 13, 12: 4 Background Points left to assign, still needs a name) STR 12 DEX 14 CON INT 18 WIS CHA Background 1 School Professor Background 2 Background 3 Background 4 Background 5
