Generate Plays - Takes the number of plays in the Plays to Generate field and adds them to the playbook. You can not have more than 200 plays in your playbook. The AI adds these plays keeping the Offensive Style Threshold. This threshold is a bonus (the default value is 15) given to plays that better fit your offensive coordinator's style of play.

First thing I LOVE -- hiring an OC, I see there's a "playbook limit" as one of his attributes. Great addition. He's also got a "style" which might mean lots of possible things... but I like the idea that certain coaches can handle more plays than others as a very intuitive way to select certain ones over others.

This game is a dream come true as a Steelers fan! Just started the season and immediately Cleveland offers me a trade (draft pick) for Landry Jones! I would have traded him for a bag of donuts. Jim really got this game right where Cleveland is being Cleveland making a trade like this

PSA - If you do the generate history, and navigate away from the game window, you will no longer be able to see it advance stages, and it will appear to be locked. However, it is still running behind the scenes and if you wait (how long depends on how many years you selected) it will eventually finish

I hired a new HC, he had a defensive preference listed (True 34). When I hired him as HC, that item remains on his player card, but it's in black... where the same rating for my DC remains in red. I presume it's now basically a latent preference. I wonder if the scheme of the DC simply defines the base defense for the team. (Forgive me if this is in the written docs that I have not had a chance to read yet)

I don't have any player windows open... Only window I have open is the Roster window.

Appears to happen if I use Escape to close windows instead of the "Close Window" button.

I was getting this too. I restarted the game. Guess I can't use the escape button anymore.

I didn't know using escape to close windows was something you could even do.

Yes, the DC determines the base:

Your team’s defensive front is tied to your defensive coordinator. Each staff member who specializes on defense runs one of the four defensive fronts available in Front Office Football. Hiring that staff member as defensive coordinator determines your front. That can’t otherwise be changed, so be careful when making staff changes.

I've read the philosophy documents (which..are....AWESOME,) but I don't recall if the HC gives a bonus to his side of the ball if it's a match. (That would be cool if so.)

I mean, if I have a big play receiver, then I expect him to get used on deep routes. If I have a slot receiver, I expect him to get used in YAC type situations. I don't think I should have to dig into the minutiae to make sure that all this is being maximized. That seems like a chore. And in the MP environment especially, I'm skeptical that this won't lead to a large gap between those willing to work on 200 plays and those who just Rex it, as a result.

Dude, I mean, I share your fears, but maybe play the game a little before damning it. Chances are the differences in who takes the time to dig into things and who doesn't dig as hard will end up being much like mp leagues already are. Or mp will be completely broken and Jim will balance it.

Can anyone tell me if the game has more customization options - for example the ability to use cities in teams other than in America, adjustment to the number of teams in a league, or games in a season? Different rules? Renaming championship trophy, or anything else that enhances immersions for those that like to create their own custom setups?

Fwiw, this happens in FOF7 when I sim a season. By game 12 or so it stops updating and I get the "Not Responding" thing on the window. Game never crashes, I just know I need to wait a few seconds until the game "comes back". I imagine simming 20 years or whatever could make it seem like the game is completely broken as it takes a while to come back.

Game Day has two headings under it on the left side of the screen, mouse over the one that says Planning and you'll see the options you want.

Another issue. Getting the MP controls options under the controls menu in my SP game now. All options are grayed out so I can't do anything with them but I'm not getting the SP options now.

This is an issue as sometimes I want to change up if I am setting the depth charts and plans or letting the CPU do it (when when I want to just sim through seasons quickly).


Edit: Never mind, didn't know that the sub-headings also needed to be moused over.

Oh, ok. Found it. Have to mouse over Awards in the almanac setting. Not sure if I like the mouseover thing, especially on the gameplanning page. Can't we just make it a longer list?

Go to Controls --> Choose/Edit display options and their are choices on that screen.

I think it actually has something to do with all members of the front 7 being interchangeable from a positional standpoint. It would be stupid, but you can move a DT to MLB and vice versa.

Having a brain freeze....preseason, how do you setup to get a reasonable of rotation of players in the game. Right now, only my first 2 QBs playing, my starting RB/WR playing way longer than they should...is this all controlled in the background or is there something I can setup?
