Black Friday & Cyber Monday 2016

Got a 65 inch 4k last year and its been great. Might be tempted with a 75+ inch 4k if the price is pretty good.

What are you hoping to get this year?

On a serious note, hoping for some good deals on computers this year. Want to replace the family desktop which hasn't been used in years and is a dinosaur.

Family desktop is an i5 and I want to say probably 4 years old. Upgraded to an SSD last year and graphics card couple years ago and its working well for all the FPS games my son is playing.

I'm not sure how much better than deals can get. I posted a 55" 4k TV for under $400 the other day. That's awfully good.

FYI, there's a 55" 4k LG at Kohl's right now for $520. Amazon is supposed to have it for $400 on Black Friday. Using Discover's Price protection, Discover will refund the difference. Can also get $150 in Kohl's cash and $25 rewards to use for future purchases at Kohls. Add in 5% cash back for using a Discover card (5% of $500).

Suddenly I'd be paying:
$562 (TV and Tax)
-$100 (price protection)
-$25 (cash back)
$437 plus $175 to spend at Kohls. God knows my wife could spend $175 at Kohls.

Going to try to talk the wife into it.

Really, we just need a new TV for the living room, as that one is a 9 year old plasma and while the burn in isn't permanent, it's lasting longer every time. Unfortunately, the spot can only accommodate up to a 43" TV, based on my measurements.

Got a LG 70" from Costco for $1,100. it was about $100 cheaper a couple days ago but missed that sale but think its still a pretty good price.

LG 70" Class (69.5" Diag.) 4K Ultra HD Smart LED LCD TV 70UH6350

There is conflicting info if this is true 4k ... RGB vs RGBW but figure its better than my 40" 1080p that it will replace so took the plunge.

Has anyone done the homework on laptops for this weekend? I'm looking for a lower end laptop for my kid. He'll use it for school and light gaming. Looking around the $400 range.

Picked up a nice 55 inch 4K TV that was greatly reduced from Dell. They have some nice deals.

Looking for a middle end 1k-2k gaming laptop for my son. Alienware has a nice one that is a 15', but wanted to toss the chum out to see others opinions.

replaced three old tv's with 50 inch LG ones from Best Buy. Certainly the nicest TVs we've ever had.

Picked up two of the games that were stolen when my apartment was burglarized for $25 total at Toys R Us - they're doing a 2 for $25 of all $20 games - $15 isn't that fantastic a savings I know, but they were there, so I grabbed it.

Biggest deal so far was the Pro 4 i5 256 gigs hard drive, 8 gigs of RAM plus the keyboard cover for $999 that Microsoft is offering. Picked that up in store and was in and out in 5-10 minutes despite the fact they were packed. Beats any deal I saw for the SP4, including Best Buy, where I was originally going to get it until I found the better deal on Microsoft. Replaces both my laptop and my tablet that got stolen. Typing it on right now, and I love it.

Lot of chatter about the 8 gig Fire tablets on Amazon for $33.33. Quite a few folks, including my Lyft driver who was ecstatic when I told her about it, picking that up for kids in the family.

I bought a 17" Sager a couple of month ago from XoticPC. Great laptop from a great company. Definitely worth looking at. If I was in the market for a new laptop in that price range, I would definitely look at them.

XoticPC also has some Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals going on. Here are a few. Asus makes a great gaming laptop. Not sure about Gigabyte.

Is 500GB ok for a new PS4?

Amazon.com: PlayStation 4 Slim 500GB Console - Uncharted 4 Bundle: Video Games

Saw this deal and was considering getting it for my bday but I remember a nephew of mine who said 500gb just isn't enough anymore. Now I say that knowing he's a hardcore gamer so it very well may be enough for my own needs.

If you have to install games on PS4 like you do with XBox One, 500 GB won't be enough for more than 8-10 games or so. I have about that many on my XBox and the Drive is nearly maxed. If I get a new game, I would have to delete one of the old ones in order to play it.

Really depends on how many games you see yourself getting into.

It's okay. If you are playing more than that 7 to 10 number of games, you may have to uninstall the game, but the save data stays behind.

Grabbed a Samsung tablet with OK specs for $149(A series 9.7"). Also grabbed a LeEco S3 phone for 129$. Has really good specs for that price point and can use tmobile wifi calling.

Anyone ever buy any of the Chinese android tablets/phones off the internet? You can get some insane specs in the sub200 range but of course support is basically nil. But at that price point it blows away any US type brands. Looks like a lot of iPad type clones.
