DOLA: Enjoy the easier choices for now because, outside of a few mismatches, Round 2 gets significantly more difficult in choices. And looking ahead, by the time we hit Round 3 (round of 64), every match-up feels like a toss-up.

Two Chaplin movies on the biggest upsets. FOFC not a fan of the little tramp.

And Cool Hand Luke getting killed by Eternal Sunshine sucks.

Kind of a weak round. Only 2 movies of the lot jump out at me. Possibly 3

118. The Treasure of the Sierra Madre (1948)
139. Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (1939)

If you haven't seen both of these movies, you really ought to. I'd say Sierra Madre holds up about as well as any "older" movie I have ever seen. I love it, it's in my all time top ten or so and I hope I can vote for it all the way out of this bracket. (yeah, I know)

I love Mr. Smith Goes to Washington. It is timeless.

And Sierra Madre is a good movie. For sure.

Im shocked that Cool Hand Luke is getting crushed. I did not see that coming.

Yeah, pretty shocking (and disappointing) to me too.

Yup, a couple of tough ones for me in this round. Cool Hand Luke is one and Sin City is the other, which I'd rather watch a million times than watch the generic fantasy mashup that was the LOTR movies one more (and it's my favorite book of all time)

This round was really difficult.

I love Sin City but I am a LOTR fanboy, and I am still amazed at the achievements in that series. Plus, the extended cut of FOTR is really an amazing film.

12 Monkeys over La La Land is really easy for me, because I love scifi films, generally can't stand musicals, and I always felt 12 Monkeys is massively underrated. Still, it's funny to see an Oscar fave like La La Land getting beat out by somewhat of an old cult scifi flick.

I just saw The Pianist for the first time recently and it is really well done. But Truman Show is one of my favorites.

And I am one of the ones going with Eternal over Cool Hand. Cool Hand was terrific--but Eternal is such a great "man's" love story, as in it's a love story made for men who have known and lost love and can identify with Jim Carrey's character so easily. I can't pass on that one, even for Paul Newman.

Perhaps because it's been out roughly a month and most voters haven't seen it or are strictly protesting that such a controversial favorite is 22nd in the ranks.

Oh, I understand why it's happening. Just funny to see. In the long run, I doubt greatly that La La Land was going to get a long run in polls on this forum in any case.

At the time I drew up the bracket, yes. It's since dropped to #57, seemingly as more people have seen it and not loved it.
