BBCF - Hail to Pitt!

My first experience with Bowl Bound College Football. Being from Europe I have limited knowledge as to how college football works. In my 2 seasons of playing BBCF, I've foun the recruiting process in the game to be very fun. I'm a huge Steelers fan, so Pittsburgh Panthers seems like a good starting spot.

I'm using the 2016 update with a 4-playoffs system.

OFF-SEASON:

Roster:

This seasons star players:

So RB William Mack
Jr TE John Phillips
Jr OLB James Odom

Budget:

We hire the best scouting service in the region.

In terms of scouting we select to go all in on the O-Line and with a good amount on QB and general on defense as well.

Philosophies:

We go with a balanced attack. I would have liked to go Option, however I'm afraid our O-Line is simply to bad. Also I'm not liking that my backup QB is not mobile, and I have literally no good backups for our RB.

Defensively we go 3-4 simply because the limited quality players we have are all on the LB-corps.

OFFSEASON CONTINUED:

Schedule:

We finish our schedule with @Oregon, @LouisianaLafayette, @LuisianaMonroe and @BrighamYoung

4 home games and 8 away.... Not the schedule I wanted...

Transfer risks

So RB William Mack(3,5/5,0) the star of our team and So WR Smith(3,0/4,5) are at risk of transfering after the season.

Redshirting

We redshirt some players, but most high potential players will have a role this year as well.

I'm gonna run through the first seasons games pretty quickly. Something went wrong with the file and all of week 1's game have not been completed although I've advanced to week 2. Found out it could be a problem when not running as administrator. Well.. Learning by doing :-)

Coaches are gonna set gameplans and depth charts to get through it quickly.

2025 Season

So we finish 4-7 in a horrible season with a few upsides, like the one above. Giving Georgia Tech their only defeat this regular season.

Despite our record we end up with +33 point differential. We had some close losses.

Our defense was our force. They ended up as the 26th best defense in the country. We had a +9 turnover differential.

I'm in awe that we ended up this bad. We ended up with the #19 SOS, maybe that played a part :-)

Well onto next season.

Quick Lane Bowl:

We're bowl bound! We're invited to play in the Quick Lane Bowl against Michigan Wolverines.

Michigan ended up 6-5 and 27th offensive and 52nd defensive.

We're huge underdogs. Michigan has a way better team than us, and our star RB Mack is doubtful with an injury.

Let's get it on!

1st quarter:

RB William Mack is playing. We might have an outside chance!

Both teams move the ball well withing their own end. As soon as their enter opposition territory the drive stalls. Michigan gets a chance at a 30-yard FG but they run a fake. Without succes.

WR Smith and FB Olson goes out with injuries and won't come back

2nd quarter:

Michigan takes the lead with a TD reception on a screen from the 3.

We're still very much in the game and after the score we've stalled two times around the 30-35 yard line.

Half time: Michigan 7, Pittsburgh 0

3rd quarter:

Michigan scores a 19-yard FG on their first drive.

On our next possesion K Mayberry misses a 38-yarder and our chance to get back in it. However Michigan jumped offside and our drive continues with a new first down. 3 plays later he knocks it through on a 33-yarder. We're back in it.

Michigan scores another FG at the end of the quarter. Michigan is suddenly moving the ball much more effectively than us.

We lost 2 RBs and 2 WRs for the game.

4th quarter:

A couple of great runs and we have 1st and 1. After getting stuffed on 1st and getting sacked on 2nd. QB Lewis finds star TE Phillips for the score. We.re back within 3.

With 7 minutes to go Michigan drives down the field, but stalls and end up missing a 45-yard FG.

Time to shine.

1:15 to go 4th and 10 from the halfline. Lewis completes a pass to TE Phillips. This guy is clutch!

3 plays later Newberry has the chance to tie the game with a 52 yard FG. But he misses.

That's it. We lose our first bowl game.

Michigan 13
Pittsburgh 10

Staff changes:

Our defensive coordinator seeks a new challenge after a strong season for us. We sign McLoughlin as our new DC.

Still not where I want with the coaching staff.

Transfers:

We sign:

Fr QB Garry Lancaster (2/4,5) - QB with good work ethic and supreme instincts
Fr T Albert King (2/5) - Strong allround blocker

Both will be vital to our succes in the future.

We Loose:

No-one. Luckily enough we keep RB William Mack and our WR corps

Recruiting season:

Our needs:

We need to take all the good players we can get. We need quality especially on the offensive line and on defense besides Linebackers.

Looks like it's going to be difficult to recruit this year due to our abysmal results.

First batch of games:

William Mack runs for 349(!!) yards in the first game of the season. 3rd most all-time.

Lewis and Mack throws away the game against Virginia with 6 combined fumbles.

Offensively RB Mack is leading the way with 729 yards, 4 TD's in 4 games, QB Lewis has been solid with a 126,5 rating. TE Phillips has been a beast. 199 yards recieving which is solid. But he's a monster in the run game. 11 key run blocks!

Defensively OLB Odom has been great 38 tackles, 4 sacks and 2 int's.

Second batch of games:

Despite winning the turnover battle we loose the second game of our conference against the Hurricanes. RB Mack got injured in that game and we had to play without him against NC State.

The Game against Louisville. I still dont know why we lost. Situational football i guess. Luckily we won our final game of the period. Making us go 4-4 on the season.

Key performances:

Ou offense is #28 in the country.
QB Keith Lewis still plays solid with a 132 QB Rating, RB William Mack has 1028 yards and 6 TD's. TE John Phillips is our leading reciever with 407 yards, 2 TD's. He's still a monster in the blocking game. 18 Key run blocks, 14 pancakes, 0 sacks allowed, 0 missed blocks.

Our defense struggled a bit and is #62 in the nation.
OLB James Odom leads the defense with 82 tackles, 7 sacks, 2 int's

We played our final game against Gators without William Mack who tore an MCL. Maybe this will keep him in college for another year.

NEW ERA PINSTRIPE BOWL

Washington Huskies(6-6) at Pittsburgh Panthers(7-5)

An even game, but RB William Mack is out injured last year he played sparingly due to injury. This time he misses it completely. We'll be going after their secondary.

1st

Washington misses a short 24-yard FGA

That's all from a quarter which mostly was punt and punt and punt.

Washington is 1 and 2 as times expires for the first quarter.

2nd

Washington QB Baker starts off by running it in from 2 yards for the go-ahead score. 6-0 (OLB Morrow blocks the PAT)

PITT K Newberry misses a 47 yard FGA. still 6-0

On the very next possesion WSH K Terry Do sends a 38-yarder through the posts. 9-0 WSH

Twice in the half have C Estrada made costly penalties on 3rd down that made 2 conversions into failures. Costly.

3rd:

Freshman of the year S Chisholm steps in front of QB Bakers throw and intercepts Washinton on the first drive of the second half. Way to swing the momentum!

The offense responds by going 3-and-out. Our lacking running game is killing us.

Later in the quarter K Newberry converts a 29 FG Attempt. 3-9. He's ecstatic. he finally made a FG! So ecstatic he kicks the ensuing kickoff OOB. Stupid!

4th

After exchanging punts a couple of times the Huskies fit in the dagger with 2:01 left. RB Hairston drives it in from 1-yard out, and afterwards convert the 2-point conversion as well. 17-3 Huskies

QB Lewis end the game trying to force something to happen and gets intercepted.

Final:

Washington Huskies 17
Pittsburgh Panthers 3

Notable graduates

QB - Keith Lewis (3,5/3,5)

Projected to be a backup, went beyond our expectations and played well in his 1½ year as a starter. His final year he posted a Qb rating of 130.1. Unfortunately the mobile QB and us was never a perfect fit for the teams balanced attack, but he plugged the gap nicely.

NFL Draft stock: UDFA

TE John Phillips - (4,5/5,0)

The best blocking TE in the country. All-American in his senior year. Cementing his place among the top TE's in the game.

NFL Draft Stock: 1st round

OLB James Odom (3,5/3,5)

Played well for us, and was the foundation of the defense. His pass rushing abilities will be missed. Although not the specimen scouts are looking for in a pass rusher he knows how to make an impact.

NFL Draft Stock: 5-7th round

We ended 7-5(4-4) ... 5th in our division. Not too good.

Military bowl!

#22 Cincinnati Bearcats (10-3) at Pittsburgh Panthers (7-5)

3rd year of bowl games with William Mack at running back. And once again he is injured. This time he'll miss the game, just like last year. He played 32 games in 3 years and have missed 2 of 3 bowl games. William 'Bad Kar'MAck.

Their offense looks good and is 19th in the country. Their defense looks suspect and we could get a high scoring game. Even without Mack in the line-up.

1st

1st drive of the game. QB Lancaster comes out slinging and completes his first pass for WR Smith for 65 yards. 3 plays later FB Rosa runs 14 yards for paydirt. 7-0 Pitt!

Our second possesion of the game. Boom 30-yard completion, 31-yard completion, 38-yard TD completion for WR Smith. Lancaster is balling. 14-0 Pitt

After getting help converting some 3rd downs on penalties they score on a 24-yard field goal. On the runback after the score Freshman RB Brian Oliver fumbles, and on the very next play Cincinnati completes a 26-yard pass. 14-10 Pitt.

2nd

After another fumble deep in own territory Cincinnati takes the lead 17-14.

We exchange possesions throug punts and turnovers. Cincinnati misses a 30-yard field goal attempt and we go in 14-17.

3rd

Bearcats starts off by scoring a FG on their opening drive of the second half. 14-20.

Looks like Bearcats are running away. Another score after another possesion wehre we fail to move the ball. 14-28. Our next possesion will be crucial.

BOOM, BOOM, BOOM. Lancaster lead us down the field ending with a 37-yard TD throw to WR Jack Davis. 21-28. We're still in it.

Cincinnati stalls on the next possesion. And we march down the field and Lancaster finds TE Madrid for the score. 28-28! It's on!

4th

Cincinnati stalls

We march down but get hit by a couple of dumb penalties. We do connect on a FG. 31-28!

Bearcats is still in it. They have a decent series lead by QB Henson. But stops right outside the redzone. 40 FG try is good 31-31.

Back-to-back punts

Tie ball-game. Garry Lancaster have the chance to win the game. 3:11 on the clock. Lancaster gets intercepted! Cincinnati has the ball at Pit-44. Is this game over?

QB Henson hand it right back. CB Lee intercepts and returns it to the Pit-31.

One more shot for Lancaster and Pitt to win our first bowl game in our era. 1:27, Tie ball game, 69 yards for the TD.

Walker 20-yard run, 38 yard completion to TE Madrid, 10 yard TD-pass to Madrid! We're in front! 38-31!

Cincinnati goes 4 and out!

We win our first bowl game!

Cincinnati Bearcats 31
Pittsburgh Pirates 38

Game MVP:

Garry Lancaster, 22 of 40 for 438 yards and 4 TD's, 1 Int

Notable graduates:

RB William Mack (4,5/5,0)

1867 yards rushing in his senior year, and 4166 yards as a 3-year starter.
Had a serious fumbling problem that will hinder him come Draft time. Unfortunately he was injured for 3 of 3 bowl games as a starter. 2 of the 3 games he was completely out. He was THE building block our first two years.

NFL Draft Stock: 2nd-4th Rnd

WR Robert Smith (3,5/4,5
)

A single good season for Smith as a senior where he had 1071 yards and 4 TD's. Had injuries throughout his career at Pitt. He was top of the depth chart for 3 season but only had one season over 7 games. He's a good route runner. Had a knack for catching TD passes in bowl games.

NFL Draft Stock: UDFA

DE Keith Smith (2,5/3,0)

3-year starter at Pitt. Had 10 sacks in 3 seasons. Not our greatest player, but showed up when it mattered.

NFL Draft Stock: UDFA

ILB David Curtis (2,0/3,5)

Another player on a subpar defense. 133 tackles and 7 sacks over 3 years as starter at Pitt. Played an important role in a defense that the last 3 years have ranked higher than the talent alone would have put them.

NFL Draft Stock: UDFA

OLB Kip Mitchell (3,0/3,5)

Took over for James Odon as a two year starter he never produced the pass rushing stats we hoped for. 5 sacks as a two year starter. A more wellrounded OLB than James Odon, but not the best fit for our defense.

NFL Draft Stock: UDFA

#722 FS Peter Robertson

2-star recruits

#1696 John Pena

Overall a good results. The loss of Carpenter and the fact we missed out on our top QB target means we'll have serious problems on offense this year. Also we had literally no players interested in our project from the O-Line.

We did however add some important pieces on defense.

Recruitment class rank: 31st!

BUDGET:

We go all in in the Atlantic East. We focus on QB, O-Line, LB and DB.

Also we hire the best scouting agency available.

PHILOSOPHIES:

We go option on offense. Our best QB's are mobile, and both can't throw further than 10 yards. We have a bunch of quality on both RB and FB. And then we have a strong runblocking line.

We continue our tradition of 3-4 defense. This time we found a coordinator that excels in that formation.

NOTABLE REDSHIRTS:

QB Martin (1,5/3,5)
RB Collins (3,0/4,5) - Transfer
WR Green (3,0/4,5) - Transfer
WR Long (2,0/4,0)
DT Jensen (1,5/4,0)

INDEPENDENCE BOWL:

Auburn Tigers(7-5) @ Pittsburgh Panthers(5-7)

This is gonna be painful to watch. We are not as bad as a 5-7 team but we're miles behind Auburn. Luckily we have no major injuries and everyone is ready to play.

1st

After a couple of possesions we drive down inside the redzone, but stalls and settles for a field goal from 21 yards. 3-0.

2nd

Auburn RB Wolf fumbles in own territory. Once again we get stopped inside the 20. 6-0 after a 32 field goal.

QB McPherson fumbles the ball. Auburn drives down and completes the drive with 13-yard pass to TE Foster. 7-6 Auburn.

McPherson revenges himself on the next drive and we're in front again. 29-yard dumpoff to RB Walker. 13-7 Pitt.

3rd

Opening kickoff. Auburn fumbles it and ILB Gomez picks it up and returns it to the AUB11. We drive to the 2, and has to settle for a FG. If Stewart didn't botch it. still 13-7.

But ... Wait... There's a flag on the play. Automatic first down on the 1. RB Walker smashes it home. 2-pt attempt is no good. 19-7.

After exchanging possesions Tigers drive down the field and almost makes it a one score game. 50-yard FG 19-10 Pitt.

4th

We answer back by driving down the field. McPherson keeps it and runs it in from 4 yards out. He completes the 2-pt conversion to WR Jack Davis 27-10. This might be another bowl win for us!

Auburn fumbles the following drive, but Stewart misses the short FG.

They return by driving the ball 74 yards to paydirt. 17-27.

Pitt responds with a FG on a 11-play drive that takes 5 minutes of the clock. 30-17 Pitt.

And that's it. They can't move the ball and we even score on a safety after P Hill pinned them back to the 3.

We are bowl champions once again!

Auburn Tigers 17
Pittsburgh Panthers 32

RECRUITING 2019

Im not satisfied at all with this recruiting class. We got nothing of quality in the positions of need. We did however pick up a bunch of 4-star recruits. Once again, even though we're not focusing our recruiting on them, we seem to have succes in recruiting defensive backs.

36th in the country though

4-star recruits

#231 SS Shawn Torres
#268 CB Larry Hanson
#362 FS Milton Vaughan
#472 QB Jose Dixon

3-star recruits

#637 DT Alex hanson
#662 RB Scott Jensen
#675 T Philip Kennedy
#718 ILB David Rocha
