EA NCAA coaching career cut short

In my 14 year career I've set the record for most national titles (9), and just recently had a QB that broke all the career and single-season records (not to mention back-to-back heismans).

Year 13 I won the national title, and all my "job requirements" were checked and job security A+.

Year 14 I lost to #15 Miami, but beat #2 UVa, and made it to the Orange bowl (#6 VT vs. rival #7 UVa again), which I won.

After the season I get a message "Year 12 of 12 contract" (thanks to multiple renewals)... "We've decided to let you go, coach." because I didn't win the national title. Clearly stated in my stats that during the 12 year span I won 7 of them!!

I wanted to stay VT's coach, and break the coaching records!!
Looks like a bug in EA's program. This sux.

a side question: how much of a difference does the recruiting assistance make? it seems like a significant amount since I've had the top class almost every year. what are your experiences with using/not using it?

I'm tempted to pick up the UVA program that's been a thorn in my side every year, and stick it back to Tech for letting me go.

I hate recruiting assistance. It will go for quantity over quality in many cases. I would rather pull in 13 blue chips than 7 blue chips, 6 4*, and 5 3* players.

I had a great dynasty going with the best team I've ever had.

I was my created school, but they got to be a little too good, so I took the Illini coaching job. First season we somehow won the national title. Two seasons later, fresh off my best recruiting class ever,

QB Marcus Sanders (Holds all passing records, all of them)
WR Michael Carty (Holds all recieving records, yes all of them)
WR Dominique Emanuel (Carty's successor, ran a 4.13 outta HS)
DE Nathan Bently (Holds career sack record, and most sacks in one game)
OLB Calvin Washington (Right behind Bently)

It was Sanders, Carty, Bently's senior year, and Emanuel and Washington's junior year. I played the first 4 games of the year, pretty much blowing out the other teams. Then the next day I go back and the save file is corrupted.

I'll never get to see how they would've done in the pros.

Now I have my Norfolk St. dynasty going, hopefully I'll have another Marcus Sanders......

Coming from TCY, recruiting is too easy in that game. In my Notre Dame dynasty after 4 years I pulled in the #1 class every year (1st year 23 Blue-Chips.) My total numbers in each class have fallen because I basically only go after Top 50 players, everyone else gets cut

Prior to this year, I cut the #10 Prospect in the nation (a QB, but he was a SO), a QB rated 99 and a DT rated 99. Currently I have like 8 players rated 98 or 99, and only 3 starters lower than 95, with 2 players less than 90 that actually play (4th WR, RS FR rated 88, and the Punter.)

So far I've only stuck to All-American mode, with sliders cranked up for the CPU, but this year (in the B10) I played 7 of the preseason Top 10 and utterly destroyed them all. Ohio State was the only one that was even close, and I won that by 2 TD's. I think it's time to move up to Heisman.

There is just something fun about recruiting the top three QB's just to keep other teams from getting them and then cutting them all.

Indiana is just slightly harder to recruit from than Notre Dame

Yeah, they don't do too well when the CPU is in control of them - I think they just lose a lot of games Year 1 or 2 and never recover.

Notre Dame has fallen to a 2 star prestige team that can't even beat the likes of D-1AA Southeast.

I'm in my 4th season with Alaska State and recruiting is a bear!! Every year there are only 4 or 5 recruits from the state of Alaska! I love it. In 4 years I am up to a 3 star rating. The most games I have won in a season is 7.

Going from the bottom is definitely a challenge and fun, but when you start near the top (like VT was) it's not too tough to stay there. My bros and I played a dynasty last thanksgiving and created schools just short of the basement level. after 5-6 years we were all at the edge of being ranked and improving. (recruiting assistance was on)

I found that with recruiting assistance I'd always have at least 15 5 *s, and then who cares. I never kept a 4 * unless I needed him by some stroke of bad luck. The last couple years I stayed A+ in all categories. At a few points the offense bar went further than the scale... anyone else see that?

That's why I asked about what happens if you turn it off. I've never tried it.

I like just simming the entire season and playing the bowl game to stay connected with the players a little bit. That way if I break a record I know it's the player and not me going after it.
