I'm going to be getting a mid-sized monitor both as a backup and to start experimenting with a dual-monitor setup, something I've never delved in before. I've been pleasantly surprised by how much the prices have gone down in the last few years.

If I recall correctly, Dell has 2 monitor deals during BF. I guess I could justify it as it'll be a productivity improvement but tbh, one monitor is working just fine.

On the slickdeals site this morning and saw this, may be what you are looking for ...

I think one monitor works just fine for most purposes and I've never used more than one. However, to do live-streaming you really do need two to do it properly and that's a step I want to take sometime in the next year. Nice link there, I've been pondering between different options but that 23" is right about where I'll probably end up.

I've been eyeing Thinkpad X1E G2 for $1,499. It has a GTX 1650 MaxQ which is good enough for what I need but I can't really justify buying a gaming laptop right now.

I've got an older Dell i7 desktop with 750Ti and 8GB of RAM in 2 / 4 slots. So I am looking for some cheap RAM and hoping the boost will help with Stellaris & Civ 6 late game lags.

If someone spots a good (okay, "great" would be better than "good") deal on a big "adult-sized" TV, sing out m'kay?

The young 'un kinda wants one as an early graduation present.

*I'm not into TVs enough to know what qualifies as "adult-sized" anymore? 50" maybe? Not looking high end, he's just ready to graduate (pun intended) to wall-sized I think.

Air fryers are essentially convection ovens.

Save on monthly GB limits and, more importantly, another 1-2 hours or so of specials.

I'm hoping to pick up a external GPU enclosure, preferably a Razer Core or an Aorus Gaming Box. Not sure if things like that really go on sale, though.

I got in on the HTC Vive early. It's a bit of a novelty overall but got a lot of play for 6ish months, but I haven't taken it out of the box in about 18 months. I check for new games from time to time, but it really feels stagnant and there haven't been any major releases in awhile from what I can see.

Playstation has a VR add-on and that's what I was thinking of for my first entry into VR. Have a Switch now (but kids are grown so no one plays it anymore) but PS 5 is coming out next holiday season so was thinking possibly then.

So, I'm looking for a gaming-ready laptop... so far, this seems like the tastiest deal I have seen. Any more seasoned computer people care to offer anything to be wary of here? The price drop makes it sound like it's a phased-out model or something... which might not jar me. I just want to access a wider swath of the Steam catalog, as well as do legit office work.

I'm partial to Thinkpads (e.g. the legit office work part) and was thinking about X1 Extreme Gen2. Its about $300 more.

ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 2 | Extreme 15.6" Laptop | Lenovo US

It has a 1650 Max Q which is a competent gaming discrete GPU for a laptop but not near as good as your RTX 2060.

Not on sale, and picking which one was almost an afterthought. There's cheaper options but I want something really strong/sturdy. It wasn't immediately available, I'll be getting it delivered on Friday to finish the setup.

Not sure if it is just locally, but SkyZones black Friday deal went live today. You get a year pass good for an hour of jump time per day for $99. It is an amazing deal if you have kids.

Im getting ready to make a similar purchase.
So Im asking for my own education.
Why the Dell monitor as opposed to a bargain Monitor sold as a TV?

Im leaning the latter and open to being swayed...

I could verify & look this up, but I am going to talk out of my ass instead.

I think even larger TVs have had refresh rates and input lag (i.e it takes longer for the signal from an input device to be displayed on the screen) rates than make them less-than-optimum for monitor use. I think with the new 4K TVs the refresh rate has become practically a non-issue, but the input lag is still usually low-enough to be noticeable/interfere with proper gaming.

That could make sense, I guess.
Ive never really PC gamed, well not since CRT days lol.

I would think though, if you didnt have a smart TV but just a regular old dumb "monitor" sold as a TV you'd have the exact performance at a fraction of the cost. Just thinking out loud.
My current work setup is a 60" Panny plasma left over that my monitor outputs to. I really want 2 separate monitors so Im on the look.

Once upon a time this was my expertise but Im so far out of touch I dont really know whats best out there

FWIW I bought a monitor specifically taking into account input lag, and I bought a (cheap ass) 4K TV without paying any attention to it. The input lag/response time on my monitor is 1ms, and on my TV it is 32ms.

That particular Dell model is g-sync enabled and IMO if you play anything where you care about your FPS its well worth the price. I've been using one of dell's g-sync monitors for a couple years and it's really hard to play any action game without g-sync on now. It's something you quickly take for granted and don't really appreciate or notice until you forget to enable it gets disabled.

I'm done for the year. Got my 4k movies on sale, bread maker, decided against a grill for now. I was going to do this in 2020 but decided to get my daughter a new laptop for college next year.

Hope everyone else got what they wanted.
