Smart Lighting

I want to install some smart lighting outside my house. Ideally just some large spot lights that I can put in my my flower beds in front of my house that can be scheduled. Potentially I might add some pathway lights and could consider some smart bulbs for two lights by the front door. The old lighting system in the house we never could get to work at all since it was here when we bought it. We have multiple Alexa devices so linking with that would be nice in case I want to do anything inside eventually.

The Phillips Hue gets great reviews, but curious if anyone has used anything else.

We have Phillips Hue and it's great. Great scheduling options, and integrates with Alexa for on-demand voice control.

I believe Phillips Hue is the leader in smart bulbs, at least is was at one point. I currently use TP-Link/Kasa bulbs so I could stay within the Kasa ecosystem I created along with my light switches and plugs. I control everything through Alexa, but it's good to be able to see all the devices in one place in my Kasa app.

So when you bought the house, it already had a smart lighting system installed?

No, it had older lighting system that was controlled by a panel inside the house. They never seemed to turn on and there was no manual to figure out how to configure it. I think it is possible they were broken but weren't told.
