I am embarrassed for Stuart Scott

This spoken verse highlight of the Lions-Panthers game is the worst thing I've ever seen.

It was playing as I was typing up my error post about TPF. I have never hurried my typing along as fast as I did, so I can get up and turn it off.

With all honesty, that was the most horrific thing I've ever experienced. The TV is still off. I'm legitimately scared to turn it back on, for fear that it might still be playing for some unimaginable reason.

Still in shock.

he just does this spoke verse rap thing to the highlights of an NFL game. It's worth watching for the comedy-sadism-whatever.

But only once.

It will probably be on a late version of SC, or maybe tomorrow morning replay, not sure.

I just saw the replay of this thing this morning, and it's not my cup of tea, but Stu actually did a good job if he was trying to emulate the type of stuff they do on Def Poetry Jam. It sounded a lot like it, although I really think most of that stuff sounds really silly.

My main thought was "when did this completely stop being a sports highlight show?"

Who sat in a meeting and thought that segment up? Why did anyone OK the idea?

Last night was the first time I've watched most of a Sportscenter in quite a while, and it was painful. Stuart Scott's beatnick poetry (my immediate flashback was to Mike Myers in So I Married An Axe-Murderer, except with the knowledge that Stuart wasn't joking) and that stupid sports quiz were channel-changers for me. They killed the continuity of the highlights.

Like MTV2 (used to be) to MTV, I guess ESPNews is to Sportscenter. You want what used to be the main feature of the channel, you have to go to a completely different channel. Sad.

MTV was the only channel I watched (ok, watched cinemax when my parents went to bed ) when I was a kid and we first got cable.

Since going to MTV2, I can't tell you the last time I watched anything on MTV.

Now, SC is getting the same way.... sad indeed.

Yeah, I usually need a translator when watching SportsCenter with Stuart Scott. BTW, he's just as bad on Monday night Coundown.

That was bad too.

The only thing redeeming about Sports Center last night was that I got to see my weekly Is'mail Muhammed dunk highlight.

Prime Time is also not what it used to be...

Dom, Dom, Dom...ect....

Does Berman hold a gun to Jackson's head and make him sing along?

Last night was the first night that I've watched ESPN sportscenter in a long time. (I wanted to catch the Saints play).

I now remember why its been a long time since I've watch sportscenter.

Hahah. Sportscenter thinks they are the event, and the highlights are just something they do in the background.

I used to watch SportsCenter every night, usually two or three times (this is back when Craig Kilborn was on), and it is very different now. It's just not my thing anymore. I guess a lot of people must like it now, because it looks like they're sticking to the current format, but I don't think I'll ever enjoy it again like I used to.

The first time I heard them do the Coors Light song for the highlights, I thought it was amusing, but it's not really necessary every week. I find the whole game-show thing completely pointless. If they want to do a game show, they ought to make it a separate program. I thought Kenny Mayne was great on "2 Minute Drill."

I will say this, however. If they were going to have Stuart Scott do that, uh, THING for an NFL highlight, I think they picked the right game. The Detroit-Carolina game had to be the most uninteresting matchup of the week, only rivaled by San Diego-Pittsburgh.
