noise cancelling headphones

I'm looking for some in the $50-$80 range. Basically to allow me and Mrs. A to work from home while the kids are ending the world in the other rooms of the house.

There are a ton of options out there.

Any brands that people like? Any brands to definitely avoid?

You MIGHT be aiming too low on price range for decent active noise canceling headphones. Granted, I didn't price shop that much, because my company expensed mine. But the little looking I did, $50-$80 for noise canceling might be rought.

If you can find a steal on Jabra, they're definitely good, but ordinarily way out of your budget.

Thanks. I got that number from glancing at what seemed to be mid-grade on Amazon. So this is the kind of input I am looking for.

Yeah, to reiterate, this was one of the few times the person doing the ordering at my company told me, "Pick one, price is no object." It was rather pleasant. But, it also means I did not price shop, I just got reccommendations and ordered what people said was quite good.

For that price you could try some 3M WorkTunes. Added bonus would be you can protect your ears while mowing the lawn.

I've got both the Sony over ear noise cancelling headphones and the Sony noise cancelling ear buds. Both are above that price range. Some people don't like ear buds, which do take getting used to having something sitting in your ear canal. I've been extremely happy with both.

How are these? I've been looking to replace my lawn ones and they were the leading candidate. How are they for comfort and holding up to 5-6 month long Houston summers worth of sweat and humidity?

Just got a pair of the 3M Worktunes for mowing ... they work great for what i use them for.

I bought a pair of over-ear Plantronics some years ago, before the market really settled down. I have been very, very pleased with both the noise-cancelling effects and the music quality. My only disappointment has been watching the prices drop so much it makes me feel foolish how much I spent on them when they were a novelty.
