He was very good as a Red until his boday started to break down towards his late thirties. Given his health, it's probably a blessing that he didn't suffer long.

I don't know who came up with the idea but this is a pretty good tribute by the Mets players.

being born in cincinnati i of course fell into that boring trap of having to like the teams where you are near. But I really did love the combo of Seaver and Bench. And I sought out their baseball cards...as many as I could find. And I particularly loved it when Tom Seaver was the guest player on Johnny Bench's Sunday morning TV show The Baseball Bunch!

Tom Seaver was one of the main reasons I feel in love with the Reds in the late 70's. My passion for baseball hit full bloom as I sat with my life long yankee loving Grandmother and watched the Reds simply destroy them in the series. (she and I didn't speak for a few days)

He was a great person and a great player.

Sometime last year I was at a restaurant that had sports/celebrity themed menu items. My son asked "Who is the Tom Terrific named for?". My best friend and i both responded with different answers I said Tom Seaver, my friend Tom Brady. Then we argued. I'm a Patriot fan, so I should have known that Brady attempted, maybe succeeded(?), in trademarking the name. In any case, there is only one Tom Terrific, and that was Tom Seaver. Brady may be the GOAT, but Seaver had the nick name first.

Pretty sure Brady failed to win that battle, actually.
