What Do You Feed Your Dog?

Curious what brands you guys use to feed your dog.

We are looking at going a more healthy route for our dog. Looked at Farmers dog, but Im not sure I want to spend that much if he doesnt like it. It was like $43 a week.

Any suggestions out there?

We started with Blue Buffalo but after a couple of bad bags we started looking for something else. We tried Canidae, but he hated it. Wouldn't eat it unless it was mixed with something else. We then moved to Nulo (dry in the morning and canned at night) since that's what the cat eats and he loves it.

I also switched from Blue Buffalo to Canidae to help with his allergies. Seems to have helped some and he seems to like it better than BB.

I laughed when I saw there was a dog food brand called Farmer's Dog. Do they bag up placentas and whole dead animals? We never bought dog food on the farm for our dogs. Placentas were the delicacy, otherwise they'd always scrounge at the boneyard down by the swamp.

Now that we sold the farm I do always have a bowl of Kibbles and Bits for my dog but he prefers table scraps and finding dead animals still.

Our vet recommended Taste of the Wild and the dog likes it.

over time we've settled on some purina moist and meaty packets. I'll cook them some rice and chicken from time to time as well.

Hill's prescription food for his kidney disease. It's about $90 for a 27-lb bag, but, it stalled his stage 1 kidney disease for years, so it's money well spent.

Before that, dogfoodadvisor.com was a great resource. I usually switched things up every few months to keep things varied, every dog food has its deficiencies. And I still mix in a quarter cup of something else, switched out every so often, with his prescription food.

Kirkland Turkey and Sweet Potato. It's like $28 for 30 pounds or something. Have 2 large dogs and it's a budget lifesaver since I knew I wanted to stay away from the major grocery store type brands.

We do a mixture of Purina Pro Plan Veterinary Diet (joint mobility) and Diamond Naturals Lamb & Rice.
