Bob Gibson's 1968 season (22-9, 1.12 era, 13 shutouts) is, for my money, just behind Pedro's 2000 campaign as the best seasonal performance of all-time. To me, he's also just behind Pedro as the greatest right hander to ever take the mound.

There's fewer and fewer living athletes I have no memory of actually playing. Gibson was 50 when I started following sports - and probably still could have struck a bunch of people out then. Fewer and fewer of those guys I just knew as a kid as a larger than life mythical living sports legend.
