RIP: Joe Morgan

Seeing it on Twitter.

Wished I would have realized sooner that day I found myself behind him in airport security and gotten the chance to bend his ear for for a moment and tell him how much he was appreciated. He was so short. I am sure he had shrunk some, but even then, he was shockingly small for an elite athlete.

Shit. That hurts. Can't say I'm that surprised, but still.

From 72-77 in Cincy he was so damned good. Getting him from Houston makes up for the terrible Frank Robinson trade.

Even when he was towards the end of his career his OPS+ was a little above average.

That's at least 5 big name HOFers this year.

The first batting stance I can remember imitating as a kid.

I'm sad that my dislike for him as a broadcaster growing up led me to disregard his career as a player for so long. He was so freaking good.
