He was a bad bad man. Then they put him with Greg Loyd. That in of it self should have been a crime.

He started playing right when I started caring/watching the NFL, so this makes me feel especially old.
Re-looking at his stats, they're nuts. 160 sacks! He had 12 sacks in his last season.

He was the final piece of that great 3-4 LB group the Steelers had in the 90’s and one of only a handful of good free agency signings they have ever had. RIP.

I remember really getting into the NFL in the late 80s. Prior to that I watched but mostly the bears and I was too young to really follow close enough to obsess over stats and such.
Anyway, I remember getting one of his cards (either an '88 or' 89) and being amazed at his numbers and wondering why he wasn't mentioned with other top edge players of that time. He definitely got more attention when he moved to the Steelers but I'll always remember him as that overlooked and underrated guy that played for the Rams. |

I've got an autographed photo with Greene, Lloyd, and Woodson and I love it. He was a crazy man on the field. Loved the energy he brought.

When I heard the news, the first thing I thought was that he was a lifetime Steeler, then I remembered he played for the Panthers. I wouldn't have guessed that he started his career with the Rams or that he was only with the Steelers for 2 seasons for anything. |
