anyone been to Daufuskie Island?

I know we have a contingent from around that part of the country. Considering a trip there over spring break. We would go with 2 other families, each renting their own cottages, and drive down from NJ.

Would live thoughts about the island from anyone who may have some familiarity.

It's fun, but make sure you are fairly well-provisioned. There are some restaurants and shops, but only a ferry to get on and off the island. We went years ago for a few nights, make sure the place you are renting has some golf carts for getting around. I don't remember there being a nice grocery store, but perhaps lots of places for takeout. It was great for a secluded getaway.

I've never been to Daufuskie other than just walking along the shore. I know they've had some pretty lean years, a lot of bankruptcies, and a lot of trouble expanding. All travel is via ferry back to HHI (there is no bridge to the island), and most of the fun is really on HHI, however, if you've got a great family, and won't need to go back and forth much, it's got great beaches, you'll most likely have privacy, it'll be less busy than HHI, and you can get great deals on the properties.
