Non-Sports in the age of coronavirus: What 2 Watch
So what's your go-to been? End-of the world/virus type-fare? Or something more uplifting?
I've been drawn to 80s Sitcoms, mostly very special episodes. The Mr. Belvedere AIDS episode actually made me tear up a bit. Family Ties was a lot darker than I remember. (The kids have one uncle who was a destructive alcoholic - played by Tom Hanks - and other one who tried to seduce the teenager daughter. Tough family). Also burning through Funny or Die's "Zach Morris is Trash" series (he really was trash, geez). For whatever reason, I've been having a harder time starting up the obvious modern "quality TV" backlog I have - Better Call Saul, etc. Last edited by molson : 03-23-2020 at 07:54 PM. |

Started watching All-American. Its on Netflix and is CW fare. But its based on a true story of a kid who moves from the ghetto to Beverly Hills to play football.
Its pretty good. Watching as many comedy specials on netflix and prime that I can. But Ive burned through a lot of them. Ozark and Happy drop new seasons Friday. Will definitely jump on those.

More comedies than usual, but also burned through a batch of films like Outbreak/Contagion ...
Also a lot of documentaries, travel/nature mainly.

You want a solid and underrated comedy, catch According to Jim. This has turned into must watch TV for me. Jim Belushi and Courtney Thorne-Smith and cast are really good together.

The worst part is that my kids are around all day and going to bed later because of this. I would love to watch Westworld (I missed this Sunday's episode) and catch up on a few others, but these little bastards are around all the time.

Getting my wife into true crime doc shows.
McMillions was first, now we're onto Tiger King. The kids are super into it too. It's quality dinnertime viewing.

Rick and Morty. Finished it all.
Finally finishing off Mindhunter, which I like but didn't get to the end of before. The English Game on Netflix is next up after Mindhunter, drama based around soccer in the 1880s. I also have three plus years worth of an old British soap opera (EastEnders, 1986 to 1989) on my plex server, my wife and I will trawl through that over the coming weeks. |

According to IMDB, Tiger King was released a year ago today.
I am trying to figure out if that series would have been nearly as popular if we were not locked down. Leaning towards yes it would have been depresses me just a bit.
