Lonesome Dove was the best novel I had ever read at the time. It was a fantastic break from reality and a great world to be immersed in. RIP to a talented story teller.

RIP indeed.
Making a trip to his bookstore in Archer City has been on my minor bucket list since I moved to Texas 15 years ago. Still haven’t made it; wish I had while he was still around. Though I guess this feeling of regret and melancholy at the opportunity missed without even noticing it is about as good a tribute to him as any. Off to read The Last Picture Show yet again. |

Remember really enjoying the Lonesome Dove TV series. Never read the book though. I remember Robert Duvall. Checking IMDB, others in it include ... Tommy Lee Jones, Danny Glover, Diane Lane, Ricky Schroder, Anelica Huston, and Steve Buscemi. |
