RIP.
Man, the next decade is not going to be much fun in this regard. The musical legends from the 1960s and 1970s who were the soundtrack of many of our lives are past 70 years of age now. They'll be passing on one after another. |

As a trivia note, Steinman was the producer for Def Leppard's Hysteria album for a couple months, but his work habits did not mesh with theirs, so they ended up paying him a large amount of money to go away. Then Mutt Lange came back on the project, and Hysteria was made...

yup...I was going to add this but glad someone else did. The final nail in the coffin was that they started up playing one of the songs one day and when they finished, Steinman came over the intercom saying "I think we got it boys." And they all looked around saying "What are you talking about? We haven't even tuned up yet" "Yeah but it sounded raw. It sounded real." "Yeah but to a 13 year old listening to an album it sounds out of tune" I can't remember if this was before or after Rick Allen had his car accident. But that was another factor in Mutt Lange finally having time to do that album |

And then he married Shania... which allows me to make a Canadian segue to Celine Dion singing Steinman's It's All Coming Back to Me Now. I don't know why, but my dad loved the shit out of Jim Steinman and played Love Death and an American Guitar all the time. My dad is now a Lutheran minister. It all makes sense. |
