I would have dropped this in the Biden thread but I have noticed your limited engagement with that thread.
Has your son given you any opinions/commentary on the current state of Miami politics? I think it is just normal in its insanity but I wonder what an outsider seeing it for the first time thinks.

I got live react on this one (he's sitting here across the room)
"Towards the middle on everything. The left isn't as left (in terms of officeholders), the right isn't as right (again, re: officeholders). Nationality has a huge impact on where people sit on the spectrum. Surprised by the lack of influence wielded by northern transplants. Being a major urban city it's left of center, but not nearly as much as most other major urban centers. Cuban population bears watching, will it move leftward toward center as it moves farther from being first/second generation?"

I appreciate the overall view. I think that might surprise some who don't look beyond the glitz and glamour.
I was talking more about the corruption in the politics.

Ohhh ... "they're just as corrupt as anywhere else, maybe sometimes in different ways tho" (we talked only a day or two ago here about the intricacies of the ousting of the soon-to-be-former police chief, which seems to have classic cronyism elements as well as possibly ethnic ones)

The Miami situation right now looks to me to be one where he's most likely in the right handling things internally (which is what got him ousted) BUT whether he's been right for entirely altruistic reasons is certainly wide open to speculation.
