RIP Betty White

She had a talk show that was hugely successful in 1954 when women weren't put in that kind of position. She hired a black tap dancer named Arthur Duncan, and when CBS told her to fire him she said no. They canceled her show for it. Trailblazer, and comedy legend. RIP.

She was an incredible legend. Like, someone who's impact was so strong in the world that it transcended generations. Simply an incredible force and talent that won't be replicated in my time. RIP to a true beautiful soul.

I was reading an article a couple weeks ago that noted that she hosted a talk show for several years in the '50s that was live, unscripted & ran 5 hours a day, 6 days a week.

It's crazy to think she was the oldest of the Golden Girls and lived 10+ years longer than any of the other 3.

Served in the women's volunteer service during WW2, talk show host, actress, civil and gay rights activist, writer, singer, model. There really isn't much she didn't accomplish in her lifetime.

I remember when she hosted SNL, she said she had done lots of live TV in the past, but that was only because they didn't know how to tape anything.
