Web Hosting (2023 version)

I've used GoDaddy for a long time now, because changing web hosts is a painful experience.

But like many of these companies, they simply cheat longtime customers who aren't paying attention, and I'm paying a reasonable rate for a service that's outdated and unusable. I can't even log in to my hosting panel without delays of 2-3 minutes for everything. The "free SSL" isn't being applied anymore (I guess my site certificate expired a while back and that's not cool). Can't reach customer service - it's all Chat stuff that can't understand even the simplest questions. I think that's by design.

So, what's the answer these days? Is there any company out there that can provide the basics without charging extraordinary amounts?

Can't really help you much but when I was looking to setup a wordpress a couple years ago, I know Bluehost came up & rated highly in "best of".

But no real experience.

I've been using namecheap forever for my webhosting, it's easy and simple and they're pretty responsive.
