The two clear cuts for me were 12 Angry Men and Wizard of Oz, so it was cool to see those finish as the top 2. Nicely done by all.

I wonder if asking for votes to be limited to four per voter may have limited the options, making this a three-movie race. I know that there were three or four movies that I had a hard time leaving off my ballot.

I didn't pay attention to the "leave it to 4 votes" thing. I think he added it later. I feel like it wouldn't have mattered in the grand scheme of things.

I used to play a game called Virtual Producer that was in the same vein as this game. BK used to play it, too.

This was 10 years ago (oy vey), but I believe this is how it worked. On Monday, players submitted their movie pitches (everyone was a movie studio e.g. mine was called Suburban Films). For two days, the community voted on the pitches that they wanted to see as films. The pitches that got the most votes were then "greenlit".

The production companies would then market the movie, cast the movie, and write a treatment, scriptlet, etc.. The movie would then go into theaters and would make money based on how many people voted to "see it".

Your revenues were based on box office, money you were paid to make posters, write pitches, scripts, etc. . You spent money on cast (each actor had a set price), director, marketing, etc..

In the end, the owner sold the game to HSX which disbanded the game just for the domain name (people were stupid back in 2001).

I always thought it was a fun game, if a little time intensive.

To have finished 1st and 2nd in back-to-back drafting competitions is beyond anything I thought I could have achieved out of the drafts.

I want to thank all of the participants for the fun, I want to thank norv for putting on another excellent draft for all of us and I want to thank everyone who followed along and voted for everybody. You guys are awesome.

And I want to congratulate TRO once more on a job well done. You deserved to win.

HSX is weird. they're owned by a trading company. their sole focus is to serve as a gateway drug to the stock market. they could care less about being a entertainment industry promotional tool (or even making money. there's literally no ads) seems like they're leaving something on the table there.

i'll start up a dynasty thread to keep track of the winners when we fire up the next one. won't be for a while. i wanna try tweaking the format a little.

I think we all need two or three weeks off anyway

Sub's Poster Gallery #4

Yep, that was me. The Strike Zone poster doesn't load, but the Cobra Event one is still there and really cool. I was better at doing pitches than actually releasing movies. I think those were the only two I actually finished.

Did we ever do a movie quotes/one liners/monologue, etc draft? I'm sure it probably happened.

The death scene draft was awesome until it died.

Should have went with the Wes Anderson LOTR remake in the challenge. Would have had a ready-made trailer and everything. Thanks AI...
