Fantasy Football - looking for something different?
I likely have one or more openings in an off-the-beaten-path FF league. It's been around for many years, is pretty competitive, and is deliberately very different from the usual fare. If you're interested get in touch.
The essentials: $100 entry fee, every $ goes back in prizes, skewed a bit toward regular season $200 auction draft is Sunday Aug 27, 2:30pm Website: Fifty Reasons League Office - Free Fantasy Football - ESPN 25 player roster, with deep starting lineups (15, basically doubled except for RB) Unconventional scoring system, though not that different in practice Some settings dumped below: Code:

Probably not in, but just wanted to mention how much better auction drafts are than standard snake drafts. I don't think I could go back at this point.

Totally agree, I wish I could convert all my leagues to auction.

Looks like you're filled, but if a team was looking to bail or you otherwise needed an alternate I'm in.

League draft is Sunday. Try an auction... it won't hurt, I promise! Great sandbox to try out a different idea. But, beware - this could become your favorite league.

I might have an opening or two for this $100 league, this year. Details above - 25-round auction, very deep rosters, it's a pretty different flavor than what you're used to. No keepers, so you don't start out at a disadvantage. New owners have a habit of winning this league, too.

League trivia - the skeleton of the huge-roster auction draft setup here was a product of Jim Gindin, FOF Developer, when he hosted a league many years ago. I have dropped in an alternate scoring system (one I devised myself back in the 1980s, before fantasy was much of a thing) but the roster structure is Jim's.

We have one team open in this league. It is fun, competitive, gives back 100% of the entry fees, and... hell, it's something pretty different. If you are not completely sated with FF challenge, drop me a line (a PM here is fine) for info on getting plugged in.

Auction draft went well, with 12 owners present. ESPN changed their format, and I think it took longer for some reason.
Recap here, if anyone's interested: Auction Recap - ESPN Suicane's team, as always is really good. But the league is pretty savvy and there aren't any deadweight rosters, really. My team (Scarlet Letters) ended up being unexpectedly built around QB Rodgers, QB Watson, and TE Gronk. None of them was in my actual plans, I just ended up with the top bid. So it goes...if I can get decent production out of my RB group and the back end of my WR group then I ought to be above average. |

I have at least one opening in this league for the 2019 season ahead. It is definitely something different... details below:
https://fantasy.espn.com/football/le...eagueId=240617 ...but to recap: 25 roster slots pushes you WAY down the depth charts... you need to find value from TE #21, and so forth... if you're the sort of guy who bemoans all the undrafted talent at the end of your 16 round draft - here's your place auction is just soooooooo much better than snake draft, end of story de-valuing the RB position makes for a really good wrinkle It's $100 to play, a robust and active league, and I'm actively looking for someone to get in. As an added incentive... new shooters have a crazy good track record of stepping right in and winning the whole league. GET. IN. |

So, draft was today. I’m a veteran in this setup, as are most league members. I had an unexpected twist when the first player up stopped at $46, lower than I had expected. My plan had been to buy Mahomes (QB is a premium position) but buying both a top RB and Mahomes would eat half my budget...
SCARLET LETTERS Saquon Barkley New York Giants $46 Patrick Mahomes Kansas City Chiefs $51 ...but that’s what I did. So, I sit back, and chill. I wanted two serious QBs, and value elsewhere, that was the plan. Ryan at 31, okay, Watson at 39, okay...I don’t want to end up paying top dollar for a guy in my third tier, so... Carson Wentz Philadelphia Eagles $28 Lamar Jackson Baltimore Ravens $22 Well, this happened quickly. In retrospect I regret the Jackson pick, it tied me up too much for the late draft. This league doesn’t reward rushing TDs extra, so... probably a bad move. I’m poor, have onl6 one skill player, and hav3 to scrape for value from here. Tyler Lockett Seattle Seahawks $12 I like him , but dumb. Dallas Goedert Philadelphia Eagles $2 Royce Freeman Denver Broncos $3 Matt Breida San Francisco 49ers $4 Standard situation, after watching all the legit value guys go mid rounds for 8-20, I just sit and watch it all happen, then start to fill in cheaply. Jarvis Landry Cleveland Browns $6 Not sure what the thinking was here. Those $5 premium bucks could have helped me land a legit RB - as I recall Aaron Jones and Sony Michel were the two legit guys for cheap (like $10) I missed out on, by poor timing. Will Fuller V Houston Texans $2 Courtland Sutton Denver Broncos $2 Peyton Barber Tampa Bay Buccaneers $2 Dante Pettis San Francisco 49ers $2 Rams D/ST Los Angeles Rams $2 Tony Pollard Dallas Cowboys $2 Delanie Walker Tennessee Titans $2 Matt Bryant Atlanta Falcons $2 Raiders D/ST Oakland Raiders $1 Darwin Thompson Kansas City Chiefs $2 Josh Rosen Miami Dolphins $2 Redskins D/ST Washington Redskins $1 Dion Lewis Tennessee Titans $1 Buccaneers D/ST Tampa Bay Buccaneers $1 Adrian Peterson Washington Redskins $1 Matt Gay Tampa Bay Buccaneers $1 Remaining Budget: $0 So, I don’t hate anything here. I mean, I’d be much happier with Michel as my RB2, and all these fliers hoping to fill in behind two legit guys, sure. But overall, I’m not embarrassed to put anyone here in the starting roster. Spending half my budget on three QBs wasn’t the plan, but no legit QB went for less than $15 (a couple at the very end) and managing bye weeks at the limited positions is important in this league. Anyway...what I like about this league is a guy like Courtland Sutton. In most leagues, he’s your speculative WR4, and you only use him if someone gets hurt or if he really breaks out. In this setup, you -need- those guys to be productive...so either keep some $ around to stock up your whole roster (i.e. spend 60 not 100 at QB) or you’d better hit with your late round $1-2 guys. I haven’t pored over rosters yet, I doubt I look strongest on paper, but if someone steps up to become a legit RB2 here, we should be right in the mix. |

...some of the teams I Ike best on paper (Suicane is always clever about getting mid-price value) decided to skip the 3rd QB price trap. Working model is that you can find somebody by your bye weeks, or make a minor trade, or just play a man short one week, rather than throw $15 plus at it here. I get that.
If I got a redo, knowing how the draft would flow, I’d skip Jackson, land a legit RB2 w that $, and save myself a bit more money late to bid guys up to 3-6 rather than just 2. Result likely better defenses, and one more legit RB guy like the Buffalo kid, and one of the more serious deep TEs like Hockenson or Olsen. |

Far and away my favorite league and draft format. Not thrilled with my depth but overall happy. I'll throw out some thoughts in a week or two but right now I've got some trade winds blowing so I don't wanna give too much away as to what I would have done differently.

Fun update on this league, with one week left in the regular season. Half the $ goes out based on the first 13 weeks.
Two bye week teams each earn $100 Top total points earns $300, runner up $100 This year the bye weeks are up for grabs across SIX teams... And the coveted total points crown is tight: #4 seed at 813 #5 seed at 810 (that's me) #1 seed at 793 #2 seed at 788 Next year, give some thought early in the season to getting into this league, it's a serious change of pace and the most interesting structure I play in. |

2020 season auction draft is approaching... I have two rudderless teams
Right now the draft is set for 2:30pm Saturday, but that's possibly being moved back if i don't have the league settled in advance of then Anyway... this is a fun, very interesting, different-by-design setup that could be great as an "extra league" or whatnot. Please send me a PM if you're interested, or have questions. $100 to play, every penny goes back in prizes, more based on the regular season than in most leagues. |

I’m looking for a fantasy league if anyone has an opening. Prefer $50 buy in or less, PPR, IDP, etc. Shoot me a PM. Thanks.

Weird wrap-up to this league, suitable for the 2020 nonsense we have grown accustomed to.
The final #6 playoff seed didn't get decided until the last week, when a convoluted set of things happened to let a 6-7 team squeak in. Then, in the semifinals, the #6 seed managed to win its game on MNF based on the strength of the hobo that the Bengals plugged in when their own backup (third stringer?) got hurt. That was weird. Then, the same #6 team managed to mess up his lineup, starting Marcus Mariota and watching him ride the bench, and had to sweat MNF again, this time rooting against... (checks notes)... the immortal Dawson Knox. Knox didn't score, fell 40 yards short of a win, and the #6 seeded team edged out the #5 seed to take home the title. Yay me. |

This league is re-upping for the 23 redraft. 25 slots, $200 auction, deep rosters every week, a different flavor than your usual. Fun league, competitive. $100 to play, 100% payback to winners. Solid chance I will have one or two open seats.
Auction draft is online on Aug 27, 2:30pm. Drop a line via PM here if you are interested, please. |
