If Arreaz goes 1-4 and Ohtani gets at least 4 hits in 6AB Ohtani wins the triple crown. Arreaz would basically clinch with 2 hits.

The Mets and Braves double headers tomorrow seem ripe for shenanigans. If they split the doubleheader, both teams make the playoffs. I can’t imagine the team who falls behind in the first game is going to want to burn any of their leverage relievers.

Someone floated the idea they both just forfeit one game each, and just prepare for the WC games.

If there's ever been a time when I expect the Mets to get swept...

With the Diamondbacks potentially missing the playoffs at 89 wins I wanted to see who had the most wins while missing out of the wildcard since the 3 wildcard format started in 2015. The Mariners currently have the 3 highest win seasons while missing the playoffs at 90 wins ('21), 89 wins ('18), 88 wins ('23). They also missed the wildcard by a half game in 2016 with 86 wins and missed by a game this year with 85 wins.

So clearly the Mariners should just be the Pirates.

I have seen a lot of people say they are going to make some back room deal to split. These teams hate each other and would never.

Whomever wins game 1 will rest everyone they can game 2 but that doesn't guarantee a win. As a Mets fan I full well expect them to lose game 1 then lose game 2 in some crushing fashion.

Too much to lose with a formal agreement to split the games. If that comes out, there will be investigation, etc.

I agree with Lathum. Both teams will try to win game 1. The winner of game 1 will try to win game 2, but will care more about rest.

Mets go 1-2-3. Schwellenbaker (SP?) looks like John Smoltz and Tylor Megill who was in the minors most of the year takes the mound.

Welcome to life as a Mets fan

Schwellenbach shut down the Phillies a couple of times this year. He's good.
