Modding questions and should I buy FOF9

I am considering buying this on Steam.


Is modding similar to the old games and other text based sims (I am a TEW player)


How good is this vs older releases.


Is there plenty of good options for mods?


Can I mod in the new schedule for this year and updated roster?

YMMV may vary on the UI. I didn't find it as intuitive as FOF8 when I first tried it, but there are more screens and the underlying engine is deeper.

The year simulation is faster than FOF8 and more accurate - you can now simulate to specific dates in the year rather than only the end of each season. The match screen and engine are also much improved over 8, with clear play art and more intuitive play calling options.

A new roster and schedule has been set up for 2024, so no worries there (though I don't think the latest trades are accounted for). Player files can now include future players, so if you're interested in custom rosters or historical play you can include everybody together instead of having to create a new draft file for every year.
