So somehow my beloved Cardinals are in 1st place in the NFC West and have not allowed a sack in 3 straight games and Murray has only been sacked 11 times, just behind Buffalo. And their offense really clicking

Denver tried playing with the big boys today and it is going ... not well. A 4th and 1 when the RB didn't reach the ball out and ended up short, followed by a 4th and 4 where Nix had Franklin for a 1-on-1 TD and overthrew him. Then they had 1st and goal from the 1 and settled for a FG with 54 seconds left in the half only to give up a TD before half, followed by Baltimore getting the ball to start the 2nd half and scoring a TD. Blowout on.

Those 2 4th downs plus the 1st and goal situation go differently and they at least stick around and maybe even make a game out of it.

The Cardinals center just wrapped up and sacked Kyler Murray. Lost track of his guy and thought kyler stepping up in the pocket was his man and sacked him. I've seen lineman run into the QB but never actually sack one outright.

The irony of Brady saying that big hits are just part of the game. MFer, if a defender even LOOKED at you askance you were bitching to the refs…give me this “part of the game” shit.

Also, why even bother with a mouthpiece if you are going to leave it stuck in one of your helmet holes the entire game? Just drop the pretense and go without one.

I'm feeling a 1991 Washington/Detroit rematch in the playoffs. With a different outcome, hopefully.

Latency issues, geez. I fiinished texting my daughter I didn't like Detroit's 3rd and 1 call and immediately got the notification of the TD. 45 seconds later, he scored.

Nice win for my Cards-Murray less than 200 yards and no TD, but the running game was great and the oline gave up 3 sacks today, but the defense had 6 sacks. They also had to deal with a freak rain/hail storm that caused them to close the roof mid-way through the 2nd quarter

That was awesome. They just talked through the Anthony Richardson debacle last weekend, then showed him on the sideline yawning. Impeccable.timing.

Yeah, they were saying about how it was good he was sitting in front of Flacco on the bench…but it didn’t look like he was paying any attention TO Flacco or what he was looking at (and Ehlinger was).

I saw it the same way. He was certainly sitting in front of Flacco, but he wasn't ever looking at or talking to him, for whatever that is worth.

That hurdle, while amazing, seems to be an effort in self-preservation so he doesn't get absolutely hammered in the back. Doesn't lessen the impact, I guess, but I see a guy who would rather take a glancing blow to the buttocks or legs and fall to the ground than a helmet to the small of the back.

Not a shock. A 7-game losing streak capped off by a loss to the Panthers will do that.

THE NFL IS RIGGED!!!

Quote:
Last-play prop bad beat

The most negative completed pass in the NFL this century came on the last play of the Miami Dolphins-Buffalo Bills game, and it caused a tough beat for anyone who bet the over on Tua Tagovailoa's passing yards.

The over/under on Tagovailoa's passing yards was set around 249.5 at most sportsbooks. He had 255 passing yards when he lined up for the final play. Trailing 30-27 at their own 30 with five seconds left, Tagovailoa completed a short pass to De'Von Achane, who lateraled to Jaylen Waddle. Waddle ran backwards and was tackled at the Miami 6-yard line, a loss of 24 yards. Tagovailoa's passing yards went from 255 to 231 on the play, which produced the most negative yards on a completed pass this century, per ESPN Research.

Peyton saw all he needed to see about the Broncos chances against good teams. They just traded Baron Browning to AZ for a 6th.

I wonder if he'll handcuff Nix by trading away Sutton.

Hasn't been all that good this year, and he's an expiring contract. Hasn't stayed on the field due to injuries. Plus, we apparently made our choice over the weekend, extending Cooper.

He may be a useful piece but appears to be the odd man out this year. Probably a decent deal for both teams.

Sounds like an enviable situation to take over. Perhaps Sean Peyton would be interested!

We've seen the same movie how many times in the last three decades? The Bears gonna Bears. What exactly has this new regime brought to the table? Starting at the top, Kevin Warren has not changed the culture of the organization and he has no real plan to get a new stadium built. Isn't that what he was hired to do? On to the next clown -- Poles. The bar for a Bears' GM is set real low, and Poles is barely above it. He's just lucky that Tepper was dumber that he is or the Bears roster would look worse than it is. Name one superstar that Poles has put on the roster. Sweat is a very good player but not a superstar. Caleb? I don't know. He doesn't look "generational" to me. Probably an above average QB but he looks so disengaged on the sidelines, like he just ingested the same shit that Rodgers uses. He looked like Fields against the Cardinals -- holding the ball too long and not using his checkdowns. Odunze? Not seeing it. Probably will be an above average WR but no superstar. Jaylon Johnson might be the player closest to superstardom but Pace drafted him, not Poles. I don't understand the love for Poles -- he has a many misses as hits which makes him average at best. When the punter has the best chance to be a superstar that's a problem.

And what more can be said about Eberlose that hasn't already been said. He sucks as a head coach and his defensive prowess is questionable. I read somewhere that between his HC and DC jobs the teams he coached blew a 4th quarter lead 20+ times. That ain't good folks, but I'm sure glad that Poles knows the makeup of a good HC.

And that leads us to Waldron who is clearly not ready for Prime Time. You think that maybe Pete Carroll elevated his skills and strategies a little bit? I think yes, and Eberlose is no Pete Carroll, that is obvious. Here's another great Poles' idea -- let's bring in Kliff Kingsbury to ask what he thinks about Williams but we won't hire him to be the actual OC. Yeah, he's a terrible fit. Just look at the Commanders' mess. Oh...wait. It's the Arians/Trestman scenario all over again.

The Bears are close to being the worst organization in the NFL. Carolina and Jacksonville might have something to say about that. Maybe the Raiders, too. It sickens me that an iconic team like the Bears are owned by football idiots that have no serious interest in putting a winner on the field.

Fines and loss of draft picks. They can't sign anyone over the league minimum, so they couldn't even sign their draft class, and they can be forced to void contracts.

I think it's the Bears and the Jets, personally. Both have owners who aren't going anywhere, consistently make bad decisions, and are cheap.

Carolina maybe Tepper comes around and hires good people and let's them do their thing. It's early yet with him. Of course if he stays like this they could potentially be the worst.

Jacksonville I think have an owner who's trying, he's just consistently making poor decisions. But one of these days he's going to get the front office right, and they're going to get the coach right, and then they'll be fine.

The Raiders are almost like the Bears in that the owner has no money outside the team so he's going nowhere, and he makes poor decisions. But on the other hand he's spending money, the move to Vegas is good from a revenue standpoint, and it feels like eventually he'll get the right staff in place.

The McCaskeys have largely backed off since bringing in Warren. Money will be a bigger issue than it should until they sell but a lot of the front office and management areas of the team have been upgraded over the past couple of years. They were decades behind in some areas because the McCaskeys had their hands in everything so it's not going to be an easy fix and will take time.

No franchise is as big of a mess as Carolina right now. It's not even close. Then you have Cleveland and Jacksonville. I think you also have some franchises that are bad from an organizational standpoint but lucked into a QB to carry them. The Colts with Irsay are generally a terrible organization. Mike Brown still owns the Bengals. Dean Spanos is one of the worst owners in sports and their organization has been a mess.

I'd put all of those teams plus the Jets below the Bears as an organization. At worse on par. I don't think anyone is competing with Cleveland and Carolina right now though.
