Most major banks/economists have the S&P hitting 6600+ by the end of the year. We are low unemployment (4%), inflation is back under 3%, GDP is still growing over 2% and all this with fairly high interest rates (compared to the past 4-5 years). If we do slow down a bit, they can cut rates. If we don't, then the market should plod along to that 6600 number. Either way, we should be OK.

Which is crazy because they own recessions, have far lower job growth, and own most of the national debt. There isn't really a single positive economic indicator in the GOPs favor going back to the 1930s.

Have to give Trump credit for doing something thought impossible. Reuters is reporting that China, Japan, and South Korea will respond jointly to any Trump tariffs.

It's either dumb or a tactic. Or both.

On days like this it is always funny to go on certain websites to see what they are saying.

Checks FoxNews…Dow crashing 1500 points due to an orange man’s stupidity is currently the 12 most important story on their feed on mobile, below four sections of ads and the weather.

Gamers are yelling at Nintendo's thing to drop the price of the games and the switch 2.. did they really think Nintendo wasn't going to pass on the 32% Tariff (Taiwan)/34% Tariff (Japan) on to customers?

You can find the dow ticker on a linked article on Fox Business, but not Fox news.

I had to do vpn and incognito mode so I didn't risk fucking up my algorithm.

I don't think this has even been baked into the price yet. Switch 2 announcement was yesterday, the presentation was probably prepared weeks in advance, and the tariffs were announced yesterday.
Also, they've been in production for some time now, so it's very likely that a large portion of the launch units are already in country.

The tariffs have been promised for months, maybe not this much. But for games going forward (produced outside the nation), etcetera.

Just absolutely bananas.

I work in the industry, and every physical game is produced outside the nation. Switch cartridges are produced in Japan, PS5 discs are built in Austria and assembled in the USA, and XBSX either Germany or Mexico depending on which replicator is used.

One more week until things begin the process of recovering (may take a while -who knows). I've been buying on these deep red days thinking my 2026 self will be happy I did. 12-15% is usually the dip on SPY when the market freaks out. We are almost at 13% now.

I just dont see it. These arent typical times. Im an avid board gamer and these are likely going to decimate if not largely destroy the board game industry in the US if the tariffs hold up. I imagine there are many more industries similarly effected. I dont see a recovery any time soon unless the tariffs are walked back significantly.
