I don't know how to describe how I feel honestly. On one hand this man spent a considerable portion of his life inciting hate, he argued that gun deaths were acceptable to protect the 2nd ammendment, and was generally a bad person. On the other hand he was still a human being with a wife and kids. He was someone's son. His death has the potential to push division in the country even further and retaliation in some way is a real concern.

I know this isn't how things work in the age of social media, but until we have a suspect we don't know what the motive was. Given that the other high-profile murder in the media this week was clearly a guy completely out of his mind, it may not be the political assassination everybody seems to want it to be.

And God bless the victims in Denver and the other 500+ people who are going to die this week from gun violence. None of them should die before their time.

Violence begets violence. It is a cycle that will grow bigger. I do not mourn Charlie Kirk one bit, any more than he mourned innocent victims of gun violence. I do mourn the IDEA of a free the country as it should be. One that allows political dissent without violence. Violence from the Right begets violence from the Left begets violence over and over and on and on. There are people that feel in life or death danger for good reason, and there are people that feel in life or death danger because of social media and slanted news that are not. Regardless, when people believe their lives are constantly put into threat, what does people think is going to happen?

I was at my kids cheerleading event/football game and people in the crowd were talking about how this is the start of the war.

I looked up the definition of fascism and this all tracks.

Gotta get my Austrian passport 8/13 but the family has to go to DC to get theirs as well and I’m nervous AF.

The saying goes "war always comes home". You can't support the mass slaughter and torture of people around the world and not expect it to impact your homeland. You can't preach violent rhetoric at home and create a culture around guns without it causing blowback.

He got to live in the world he wanted. He said deaths in elementary schools were worth the sacrifice so some 55-year old to play Gravy Seals in his backyard. He spoke in a state where you can carry guns anywhere (which he repeatedly said made him safe). Don't know much about the guy besides some of his more fascist utterings. But it appears he didn't think the things he wished on others would happen to himself. The leopards do sometimes come back to eat your face.

I guess the best way to describe how I feel about it is that I'm absolutely glad he's no longer walking the earth but I absolutely hate how it happened. No place for violence. Car accident, terminal disease, trip over his ego and fall off a cliff... life happens. That kind of stuff can happen to any of us.

But we simply can't function as a society if we as individuals believe we have the right to decide who lives and who dies. Nobody's family deserves to be put through this type of trauma and pain.

Kash Patel is the one who reported that a suspect in custody. Utah Police just said at a press conference that this isn't true.

I'd probably trust the local authorities more at this point.

I am the complete opposite to you. I know exactly how I feel. I feel nothing. I don't mean that in an antagonistic way to Kirk. I did not feel anything when the Hortmans were killed either. This is not me trying to come off as sanctimonious. I just can't muster any genuine outrage to events that seem to be a logical next step in our political discourse especially when we just made that same step what two months ago? That line has been crossed.

I was watching one of the cable news networks, not Fox, and they had some talking head on right after the press conference. He was basically saying it was an embarrassment that the Governor said no suspect at basically the same time Patel is saying we have a suspect.

If it is true that this was one shot from 200 yards away to that part of the neck, I would be shocked if that person did not have a certificate, ribbon, and or a trophy in his possession re: their shooting acumen.
